Aarhus University AUFF PhD Research Stay Grants in Denmark, 2019

Applications are invited for AUFF Grants with the purpose of improving the internationalization of the PhD education at Health. These grants are available for international students.

The purpose of the research stay is to assess the candidate’s suitability for a PhD study at Health, and the stay can thus be used for preparing an application for PhD enrolment and a general introduction to the local research environment.

With an annual intake of approx. 170 students and approx. 620 enrolled students, the Graduate School of Health is one of Denmark’s largest graduate schools. The graduate school was formally established in 2007 and is now a multidisciplinary graduate school with long-standing traditions for recruiting students from the entire health science area.

The graduate school is responsible for the Graduate Programmes at Health, Aarhus University. The school covers all aspects of health science, including biomedicine, clinical medicine, public health, odontology, nursing science, sports science and biomedical engineering represented by the many university departments and sections.

Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: December 2, 2018
  • Course Level: Grants are available to pursue PhD research programs.
  • Study Subject: Travel grant for a research stay at Health for international PhD students. It is possible to apply for a grant for 3-6 months as funding for a research stay at Health.
  • Scholarship Award: The grant consists of a scholarship of DKK 15,000 per month (taxed at source) to be used for living expenses (housing, course fees etc.) and travel expenses (transport, visa etc.). The grant cannot be used for project materials and permanent equipment or for travel expenses for family members.
    The scholarship is not to be compared with a salaried position and is not extended due to maternity or paternity leave or sickness. It does not include holiday allowance or pension, and the candidate will not be covered by AU insurance.

Entrance Requirements: There are two different options under this call. Both are applied for by the supervisor at Health:

Grant for recruitment of talented international candidates to the PhD program at Health
It is possible to apply for a grant for 1-3 months for a research stay at Health.

The grant awarded is a scholarship to international potential PhD students with a qualifying degree from a non-Danish university. The purpose of the research stay is to assess the candidate’s suitability for a PhD study at Health, and the stay can thus be used for preparing an application for PhD enrolment and a general introduction to the local research environment.

The research stay must be concluded by the end of 2019.

Travel grant for a research stay at Health for international PhD students
It is possible to apply for a grant for 3-6 months as funding for a research stay at Health.

The grant awarded is a scholarship to international PhD students enrolled at a non-Danish university. The purpose of the research stay is PhD studies and project work relevant to the candidate’s PhD program.

The research stay must be concluded by the end of 2019.

Application Procedure

How to Apply: The applicant is the supervisor, who must be employed at Health.

Candidates can use ‘Find a Researcher’ or the web pages of the departments to contact potential supervisors. Unfortunately, the administration is unable to assist in getting a supervisor.
