Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship for Indian Students in UK, 2016-2017

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of Ms. Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship which Government of the India instituted at St. Antony’s College, Oxford (UK). The Fellowship is designed for scholars who have specialized in Modern Indian Studies in the fields of History, Economics and Political Science.

Government of the India is offering this fellowship to help Indian scholar to study abroad and to help them in their search work.

St Antony’s College is a world-renowned centre for research and teaching in global and regional issues. The College provides an interdisciplinary environment to study a range of subjects from development to international relations.

Applicants require IELTS overall score of 7.0, TOEFL (paper-based): overall score of 600 and TOEFL (internet-based): overall score of 110.

Course Level: Fellowship is available for pursuing research programme at the St. Antony’s College, Oxford.

Study Subject: The Fellowship is meant for scholars who have specialized in Modern Indian Studies.

List of Subjects: History, Economics and Political Science.

Scholarship Award: The Fellowship is tenable for one year in the first instance, which can be extended by one year more on the basis of performance of the candidate. The fellowship carries an amount of £ 29,944.85/- per annum, the break -up of which is as under:}
Stipend Amount: £ 22,063.00
Travel Allowance: £ 890.00
College Lunches: £ 2,407.00
6 High Table Dinner: £ 679.00
Other Administration: £ 3,930.85

The candidate is eligible for Economy Class air passage (both ways). Only spouse of the selected candidate will be provided Economy Class Air-fare provided he/she stays in UK with the scholar for a continuous period of one year. (As the fellowship amount is sufficient for only one person, the candidate will have to meet the expenditure on maintenance of spouse).

Eligibility: -Candidates should have uniform academic record with 60% (at least) in Post Graduation and with a PhD degree in the subject field chosen or published works of equivalent merit, which have received outstanding recognition. Where only grades are awarded, the candidates are required to furnish exact percentage of marks and also indicate the conversion formula. This Fellowship is intended for a young scholar, who has bent for pursuing an academic career. The status of the candidate would be equivalent to that of a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.
-Experience: A minimum of three years teaching experience at Graduate Postgraduate level after completing PhD as on 29.02.2016.
-Age: Candidates should be between the age of 30 and 40 years, as on 29.02.2016.
-Candidates who have already been abroad for studies/training/specialization either on Scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding 6 months are eligible to apply provided they have been in India for at least 3 consecutive years after returning from abroad. Candidates residing abroad are not eligible.
-The candidate must have completed tertiary Education in English Medium only.
-Candidates must submit precise programme of study/research (minimum 500 words) and justification of their study/research being carried out in the United Kingdom.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Candidates should have uniform academic record with 60% (at least) in Post Graduation and with a PhD degree in the subject field chosen

English Language Requirement: All non-native English-speaking applicants must satisfy one of the following requirements:
-IELTS: overall score of 7.0 (with at least 7.0 in each of the four components)
-TOEFL (paper-based): overall score of 600 with a Test of Written English score of 5.5
-TOEFL (internet-based): overall score of 110 with component scores of at least: Listening 22, Reading 24, Speaking 25, and Writing 24.
-Cambridge English: Advanced, also known as the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): grade A if taken before January 2015, or a score of at least 200.
-Cambridge English: Proficiency, also known as the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): grade B if taken before January 2015, or a score of at least 213.
-English Language GCSE, or O-level: grade B (for IGCSE, please see below)
-International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL): score of 5 in English (as Language A or B)
-European Baccalaureate: score of 70% in English.
