Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Scholarships at Rhodes University in South Africa, 2018

Rhodes University is inviting applications for Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded in Intersecting Diasporas: Literature of the African, Latin America, and South Asian Diasporas.

The focus of Professor Sam Naidu’s project is the fictional crimes and related identities represented in the literature of the African, Latin American and South Asian diasporas.

Rhodes University (RU or simply Rhodes) is a public research university located in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is one of four universities in the province.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing masters and postdoctoral program.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in Intersecting Diasporas: Literature of the African, Latin America, and South Asian Diasporas.

Scholarship Award:

  • MA scholarship (two years); R90 000 per annum.
  • Ph.D. scholarship (three years): R100 000 per annum.
  • Andrew W. Mellon funded Postdoctoral fellowship R180 000 per annum.

Scholarship can be taken in South Africa

Eligibility: Postgraduate Students/Postdoctoral Fellows wishing to embark on research projects which explore fictional representations of the experiences and exigencies of diaspora, and who favor a comparative methodology informed by an intersectional approach to the study of literature are invited to apply.

Nationality: Applicants from South Africa can apply for these scholarships.
