Scholarships for Cambodian Students

The education in Cambodia has been growing significantly in the last decade. As the growth of the country depends on the students and youth and so they should be supported and nurtured in the best educational environment. Education is one of the prioritized sectors of the Cambodia. There are many scholarships and grants available for Cambodian students to pursue higher education. There are many aids and scholarships accessible for students who wish to study undergraduate, graduate, master and research programs. This blog is created to give an overview of the different scholarships available for the natives of Cambodia.

OWSD Postgraduate Fellowships: The OWSD fellowship is awarded to women scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to pursue PhD at a centre of excellence in the South in a field of natural sciences. The minimum required qualification of applicants is a M.Sc. degree (or equivalent), or a B.Sc. honors degree, in the natural sciences. The scholarships and grants will be offered by OWSD.

John Allwright Fellowship: The ACIAR Fellowships Scheme aims to develop research capacity in ACIAR’s partner country institutions. The partner country institutions are the major target of this scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded for students who wish to pursue postgraduate in agriculture. These scholarships are for students from developing countries who want to study at Australian institutes.

Bachelors, Masters and PhD Scholarships at Macquarie University: Macquarie University international scholarships are available to study at Macquarie University in Sydney for undergraduate or postgraduate level. It will cover full international tuition fees.

USA American Fulbright Scholarships for Cambodian Students:  The Fulbright program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. This program is providing opportunities to foreign nationals to study, teach and pursue research in the U.S. from past 60 years. It will provides Masters degree or PhD fellowships on a competitive basis to Cambodian students or qualified candidates under the William Fulbright Scholarships program. The grants provide round trip transportation to the United States as well as tuition fees for full time graduate study.

Cambodia Undergraduate Scholarship: The scholarship is for the full program. It is available for students who are nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) Cambodia AND are classed as overseas student for fee purposes AND register on a full-time Foundation or full Undergraduate Degree programme at Nottingham for any subject area (excluding Medicine and Veterinary Science). This program is for undergraduate study and is provided by University of Nottingham.

New Zealand Government Postgraduate Scholarships: The New Zealand international Doctoral Research Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand government. Recipients are selected upon academic merits and it provides full tuition fees, plus living and other allowances for successful candidates. New Zealand is internationally famous for higher studies.

Masters program scholarships in development studies:  The Consortium of Development Studies in Southeast Asia (CDSSEA) offers Master’s Programs Scholarships  for Students from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam , Thailand at  Asian Institute of Technology, Chiang Mai University and Chulalongkorn University ,Thailand. The study subjects are arts in international development studies and arts in sustainable development.

ASEAN Scholarships for Cambodia: The ASEAN Scholarships for Cambodia are tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) (or equivalent) certificate. The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually and is subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

New Zealand ASEAN Scholars Awards: Awards for students from Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. These awards are funded by the New Zealand Aid program, New Zealand government’s international development program and the level of study will be Masters and PhD.

University Leadership and Management Training course in Management: The training programme is in the field of Higher Education Management for the applicants of Sub-Saharan Africa, South East Asia, Northern Latin America, Middle East and Germany.  The professional training course combines online and contact phases in a ‘Blended Learning’ approach. The scholarship for training will be provided by DAAD.

ASEA-UNINET Programme Thailand On-Place Scholarships: The Office of the Higher Education Commission, Ministry of Education, Thailand, in cooperation with the ASEA-UNINET Austria offers On-Place Master scholarships for nationals of Cambodia and Lao PDR, Thailand. Seven scholarships will be granted to students and faculty members of higher education. Tuition fees for the Scholarship students will be paid by the Thai higher education institutions and their living allowances and accommodation expenditure will be paid by the Austrian Government.

SEARCA Graduate Scholarship: The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) invites applications for its graduate scholarship (MS and PhD) in agriculture and related fields (including biological sciences, social sciences, economics and statistics, forestry and fisheries, environmental sciences, agro-industrial technology and engineering, biochemistry, and development management).There are two types of SEARCA scholarship grants available to citizens of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. 1. Regular MS and PhD Scholarships. 2. PhD Research Scholarships.

Edinburgh Global Development Academy Master’s Scholarship: The University of Edinburgh will offer 2 Master’s scholarships covering the overseas rate of fee for students from less developed countries and 2 Master’s scholarships covering the “home” rate of tuition fee for UK/EU students for eligible Master’s programmes offered by the University.

John Dillon Fellowship: The Fellowship aims to develop leadership skills in the areas of agricultural research management, agricultural policy and/or extension technologies. This is achieved by providing exposure to Australian agriculture across a range of best-practice organizations involved in research, extension and/or policy making. The visit programs are tailored by negotiation between ACIAR and the selected Fellow to meet the needs of individual Fellows and their employing organizations

Garden Scholarship in Surgical Sciences: The University of Edinburgh will provide one Master’s scholarship for the MSc in Surgical Sciences distance learning. This scholarship will offer total value of£1,000 which will be deducted from the annual tuition fee for the part-time program of study.

Erasmus Mundus Project Action 2 Scholarship: The Erasmus Mundus is offering scholarship to Cambodian students for undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and post doctoral studies. It is an institution-based mobility and scholarship project organized by a consortium of some of the most prestigious universities in Europe and Asia.

Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship: The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) offers Human Resource Development Scholarships for Cambodian Students at Japanese Universities in Japan. This scholarship is for pursuing master’s level and is offered by Japan International Cooperation center.

There are many other scholarships and grants which are available for developing countries and international students like Korean Government Scholarship, LiU International Scholarship, ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Scholarship, Edinburgh Global Health Academy Master’s Scholarship, Southampton Law School Scholarship, Australian Leadership Award Scholarships, Loom Khong Pijay (GMSARN) Scholarships, Leiden University Excellence Scholarships for International students. The Cambodian students can also access these scholarships and financial aids.
