The Carnegie Trust has a purpose to improve and extend opportunities for both study and research in the universities and institutions of higher education in Scotland. It is a small independent foundation, providing grants to undergraduates, postgraduates and academic researchers at the following institutions of higher education and research: Scottish Universities, Glasgow School of Art, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applications are accepted from low-income countries.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The funding grant will be awarded for an undergraduate study course at the University of Aberdeen.
  • Admissible Criteria: The scheme supports students enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme who are not eligible for government funding for their tuition fees.

To be considered for this grant you must:

  • Reside in Scotland at the time of applying and have completed at least two full years of secondary education in Scotland, or be able to demonstrate (to the Trustees’ satisfaction) a substantial and recent connection to Scotland on the basis of residency, education (excluding university level education) or upbringing;
  • Have limited leave to remain under a visa that is valid for the entire duration of the course, or be an asylum seeker;
  • Not be eligible for public funds (e.g. grants or loans) towards the cost of tuition fees, whether in Scotland, the UK or overseas;
  • Live in a low-income household;
  • Not have already graduated with a university degree
  • Have an unconditional offer for, or be a continuing student on, a full-time, part-time or distance learning undergraduate degree course in the academic year 2022-23 at the Aberdeen campus.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Before applying for an undergraduate grant, applicants must take admitted into the university. Applications for full-time undergraduate degree programmes at Aberdeen are made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
  • Admission deadline: All applications submitted to us by 6 pm (UK time) on the last Wednesday in January.
  • Supporting Documents: The documents should be uploaded with your application form. Letter of acceptance for your university course,
