CIVICUS Internship For Interim Communication Manager Position In South Africa, 2015

Applications are invited for Interim Communication Manager internship position in South Africa. Interns must have a degree with a major in Communications, Media, Political Sciences or equivalent. Applications from all countries are welcome but preference will be given to individuals that are South African citizens or have the right to work in South Africa. Interns will be provided a range of USD 60k to USD 65k pa all-inclusive, depending on experience. Medical aid, risk insurance and employee wellness benefit inclusive.

  • Field of Internship: The Communications Manager manages, coordinates and leads the development, implementation and review of efficient communication and media strategies to establish CIVICUS as a trusted brand thus enabling the organisation to deliver to its strategic direction and operational goals.

Eligibility

  • Degree with major in Communications, Media, Political Sciences or equivalent.
  • Proven record (5 years) of leading the provision of Communications services in international organisations’, preferably with a social justice focus;
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively transfer and communicate ideas, concepts and information to others, verbally and in writing;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in using communication and appropriate IT and content tools in the digital media age;
  • Demonstrated understanding of campaign conceptualisation and implementation and the role of Communications’ in supporting this;
  • Demonstrated record of adopting a consultative approach in the delivery of Communications’ services to internal and external stakeholders, tailoring service delivery to meet organisational needs;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a self-motivated, highly organised professional setting clear objectives, driving outcomes and meeting timelines;
  • Demonstrated experience of building and managing teams to deliver on the Communications’ agenda;
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize management tools and implement management strategies contributing to the overall management philosophy of the organisation;
  • Proven commercial acumen, demonstrating previous experience of developing and adapting Communications’ services to meet organisational priorities in a funding constrained environment;
  • Advanced negotiation skills utilising where necessary influencing skills in a manner that gains agreement or acceptance across internal and external stakeholders; § Computer literate and self-sufficient.
