The Irish Clinical Academic Training (ICAT) Programme is a unique all Ireland cross-institutional, comprehensive national programme for Clinician Scientists based at six major Irish universities and their affiliated hospital groups.

ICAT Partner universities are Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, National University of Ireland Galway, Queen’s University Belfast, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and University College Cork. ICAT aligns with the UK clinical academic training in medicine and dentistry: principles and obligations. ICAT has selected the best supervisors from research-intensive universities with a biomedical focus that collectively demonstrates research excellence.

Application Deadline: The application deadline is 5 pm, 20th April 2022. Late submission of applications will not be accepted.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: All international, as well as domestic students, are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply for study programmes in medical and dental, and veterinary.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland or the United Kingdom at the time of application.
  • The applicants must be medical, dental, and veterinary specialties.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: The applicants are first required to submit a pre-application form which will lead them to the application process. All eligible students will be considered automatically.

  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have an MVB or equivalent veterinary degree or a relevant specialist (European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)) training programme or equivalent.
  • Language Requirement: The students must meet the language requirements of their partner universities. TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc are widely accepted standardized language tests.
