The University of Copenhagen’s Saxo Institute has announced a Postdoctoral Position in Textile Archaeology and Sudanese Medieval History in Denmark. The postdoctoral fellow will be appointed on half-time basis on a research project – Fashioning Sudan with a monthly salary of DKK 17,800 along with pension benefits.

  • How to Apply: Applications for the postdoctoral position must be made online. Applications of all candidates will be reviewed for the position. 
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Cover letter (max. 1 page) specifying how the applicant’s qualifications and experiences match the overall research aims of Fashioning Sudan.
  • Research proposal (max. three pages) describing how the applicant would design a study of medieval dress practices in ancient Sudan and Nubia.
  • Curriculum Vitae (with the applicant’s email and phone number).
  • Documentation of qualifications (examination certificates, PhD diploma, etc.).
  • 1-3 enclosed publications
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have research qualifications at least corresponding to those achieved through a successfully completed PhD. 
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests: 
  • IELTS – 6.5 
  • TOEFL IBT – 83 
  • CAE/CPE – C2 

Benefits

The postdoctoral candidates selected to be appointed at the Saxo Institute will be provided a salary starting at DKK 17,800 (Euros 2,300) per month plus a 17,1% contribution to the pension scheme by the University of Copenhagen.
