McDonald Fellowships for International Students in UK

To support bright students from low or middle-income countries in the UK, the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation is providing the McDonald Fellowships for the academic year 2021-2022.

The fellowship will be presented to international applicants who will research in the field of multiple sclerosis. It is offered in the memory of Ian McDonald, who chaired the MSIF International Medical Advisory Board, and will cover all cost of study.

The Multiple Sclerosis International Federation, established in 1967, is a global network of MS organisations that brings together the work of MS organisations to help people affected by MS around the world.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants belonging to low or middle-income countries are eligible.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: All research programmes in the field of multiple sclerosis are eligible to apply for.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be citizens of a low- or middle-income country as defined by the World Bank.
  • The applicants must focus their research on an area relevant to multiple sclerosis.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Applicants are required to submit an online application form to avail the scholarship.
  • Supporting Documents: The applicants must submit the following documents:
  • Supporting statement
  • Names and contact details of 3 referees, including the applicant’s current supervisor or employer
  • Reference letter from the referees
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must be a post-graduate level degree (at least MSc, preferably PhD/MD) in an area relevant to multiple sclerosis to be admitted.
  • Language Requirement: The applicants must be proficient in English and know basic communicable English.

Benefits

The organisation will provide the selected applicants GBP 30,000 per year to cover travel and living costs and an additional contribution of GBP 2,000 per year to the host institution for two years.
