Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: The United States
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to the honor degree program in any subjects offered by the MTSU.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Incoming first-time freshmen starting at MTSU in the fall who meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
  • 25 ACT (1200 SAT) and high school GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • OR 24 ACT (1160 SAT) and high school GPA of 3.7 or higher
  • OR 27 ACT (1280 SAT) and high school GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • MTSU Honors College Requirements: Students must maintain a 3.25 college GPA and complete the Honors College program, including 18 hours of lower-division (1000 and 2000 level Honors classes); UH 3000 Honors Lecture Series; UH 3500/4010/4600 interdisciplinary seminar; UH 4900 Thesis Tutorial; UH 4950 Thesis or Creative Project; and three hours Honors elective (upper-division Honors course or Honors Contract). Students must stay on track each semester and complete the Thesis or Creative Project.
  • Preference will be given to MTSU students who are not already receiving another four-year scholarship from MTSU.
  • Any entering first-year student with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and an ACT composite score of 25 or higher (1200 SAT) may register for Honors classes.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Applicants must be admitted to MTSU before completing this scholarship application.
  • There is no separate application to join the Honors College. Suppose applicants have been admitted to MTSU and qualify as an entering freshmen (3.50 high school GPA and 25 or higher ACT or 1200 SAT). In that case, they are automatically eligible to take Honors courses.
  • Supporting Documents: Students will be asked to submit 1) a personal statement form and 2) official academic transcripts (diploma/ transcript) should be sent to MTSU directly from their previous institution.
  • Admission Requirements: All students must submit an ACT/SAT score to be considered for admission. First Time Freshman: ACT composite score of 25 or SAT total score of 1200 (evidence-Based Reading/Writing & Math and a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Language Requirement: Students must demonstrate English proficiency to be admitted to academic study.
