MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Awards for Masters and PhD Programme, 2015-2016

Applications are invited for MJIIT scholarship program called “MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award” for students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Malaysia) to study masters and PhD programme at MJIIT. Up to 17 scholarships for a period of three years for PhD Programme and up to 25 scholarships for a period of two years for Masters Programme are available. These scholarships are awarded for September 2015/November 2015/February 2016/April 2016/September 2016 intake. Application will be screened and award of scholarship will be decided on first-come-first-served basis.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are open to study the subjects offered by the university.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for those wishing to pursue the Master and PhD degrees at MJIIT.
Scholarship Provider: Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology, UTM
Scholarship can be taken at: Malaysia and Japan (for the period of 3 to 12 months)

Eligibility: The following describes the eligibility of candidates according to the student incentive schemes.
-Applicant is from an ASEAN member country.
-Applicant should possess Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
-Applicant should have obtained CGPA 3.0 and above in his/her Bachelor’s degree .
-Applicant should have attained the minimum English requirement , i.e., TOEFL score of 550 (or 79 IBT) or IELTS 6.0
-Only original and valid TOEFL or ILETS (Academic) certificates of not more than two years old upon the day of registration are accepted.
-Institutional-based / prediction score TOEFL/ILETS including TOEFL Institutional Testing Program (ITP) are not acceptable).

Scholarship Open for International Students: MJIITScholarships are open for students from ASEAN member countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam (excluding Malaysia) can apply for Incentive Award.

Scholarship Description: A limited number of funding is available for those wishing to pursue the MPhil and PhD degrees at MJIIT. The following are available scholarships:
-MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award – PhD Programme: MJIIT has newly launched a scholarship program called “MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award”, offering scholarships for students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Malaysia) to study masters and PhD programme at MJIIT, for intake of September 2015/November 2015/February 2016/April 2016/September 2016.
MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award – Masters Programme: MJIIT has newly launched a scholarship program called “MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award”, offering 25 scholarships for students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Malaysia and Japan) to study Master’s Degree Program at MJIIT, for intake of September 2015/November 2015/February 2016/April 2016/September 2016.

Number of award(s): MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award is offering 17 scholarships for PhD Programme and 25 scholarships for Masters Programme.

Duration of award(s): MJIIT ASEAN Student Incentive Award is offered up to three years for PhD Programme and up to two years for Masters Programme.

What does it cover?
-PhD Programme: MJIIT offers the following student incentives:
-Monthly allowance: Ringgit Malaysia 1,800 per month for two year
-Tuition fee: to be waived for three years
-One round trip flight ticket between home country and Malaysia
-Processing fee of application: to be refunded upon successful enrollment
-Insurance in Malaysia: up to RM 4,800 for three years
-Travel expenses and allowance for short-term attachment to a Japanese partner university for the period of 3 to 12 months during the three-year study period
-Travel expenses and allowance to attend an international conference in Japan
-Masters Programme: MJIIT offers the following student incentives:
1. Monthly allowance: Ringgit Malaysia 1,500 per month for two year
2. Tuition fee: to be waived for two years
3. One round trip flight ticket between home country and Malaysia
4. Processing fee of application: to be waived
5. Insurance in Malaysia: up to RM 3,200 for three years
6. Travel expenses and allowance for short-term attachment to a Japanese partner university for the period of 3 to 6 months  during the two-year study period
7. Travel expenses and allowance to attend an international conference in Japan

Selection Criteria: Application will be screened and award of scholarship will be decided on first-come-first-served basis.

How to Apply: All applications with complete attachments must be e-mailed to Dr. Naoki Umemiya (umemiya-at-mjiit.jp), JICA Expert at MJIIT. Applicant should submit the following documents to MJIIT.
-Attached application form for MJIIT Student Incentive Award
-Scanned copy of an official test score of TOEFL or IELTS
-Scanned copy of transcript from his/her Bachelor Degree

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadlines are 15 November for February intake; 15 January for April intake; 15 June for September intake and 15 August for November intake.
