MPOWER Refugee Citizen Scholarship to Study in the US or Canada

MPOWER Financing is calling international students to apply for the MPOWER Refugee Citizen Scholarship to Study in the US or Canada.

The program is open to support eligible students worldwide who are fleeing harsh conditions from around the world and coming to the US or Canada for a better future. MPOWER’s Global Citizens Fund will fund three prizes worth US$5,000 to support qualified students globally.

MPOWER Refugee Citizen Scholarship to Study in the US or Canada

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities are eligible.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • American and Canadian citizens/permanent residents and those with other immigration statuses are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Applicants must be accepted at or enrolled in a full-time degree program at a US or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and
  • Applicants must be an international students allowed to legally study in the US or Canada, as applicable through one of the following:
  • Applicants must be a refugee or asylees from any country (or pursuing such status)
  • Applicants must have Temporary Protected Status
  • Applicants must be a beneficiary of Deferred Enforced Departure (DED)status

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Applicants can submit an online application form to apply for the scholarship.
  • Supporting Documents: No documents are required for the scholarship. Applicants are required to write an essay online in 200-500 words on the following question: describe their education journey, including challenges they have faced while pursuing higher education, and how they hope to inspire other prospective students from their country.
  • Additional Requirements: Candidates should be refugees or asylees from any country (or pursuing such status: Temporary Protected Status, and beneficiaries of Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) status.
  • Language Requirement: English language skills are required to study in Canada and the United States.
