The MOE/NCKU Elite Scholarship program is open to international students who are degree-seeking applicants applying for Doctoral/Masters at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.

Founded on 15 January 1931, NCKU is a public research university in Taiwan. It comprises 9 colleges, 43 departments, and 39 institutes currently offering 42 undergraduate, 74 master’s, 53 doctoral, and 17 master’s degrees for working professionals.

Why study at National Cheng Kung University? NCKU is generally considered to be a top-tier university in Taiwan. It is best known for its educational degree and courses in engineering, computer science, medicine, and planning and design.

• Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
• Qualification of international students who are Doctoral/Master’s degree-seeking applicants and currently university lecturers or professors in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and all African countries.
• Applicants are required to choose the Full English Taught Programs.
• Applicants with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for master’s programs; applicants with a master’s degree are eligible to apply for doctoral programs.
• Academic credentials from Mainland China: The Regulations Governing the Accreditation of Schools in Mainland China shall apply.
• Academic credentials from Hong Kong or Macao: Academic Credential Verification and Accreditation Methods adopted in Hong Kong and Macao shall apply.
• A person of foreign nationality who has never held the Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) and Taiwan nationality and has never undertaken studies in Taiwan as an overseas Chinese student.

• How to Apply: Applicants should register online first, and the form “Application for Admission of National Cheng Kung University” can be completed online.

• Supporting Documents: Applicants must upload all required documents as follow in PDF format to the application website:
• Declaration Form for International Student Application: Applicants should download and print the “Declaration” form
• Two Recommendation Letter
• The highest degree diploma
• The official transcripts by years
• A financial statement
• Identity card and/or passport
• Study plan
• English(/Chinese) autobiography
• Academic thesis or relevant publications (for Ph.D. program applicants)
• Admission Requirements: Lecturer Certificate (English version) is required.
• The applicant is required to submit the up-to-date Lecturer Certificate again after receiving admission. The scholarship application will be reviewed and determined by MOE (Ministry of Education).
• Each department has different evaluations and requirements. Applicants must meet the Admission Prospectus for International Students.
• Language Requirement: English language skills are required.

Benefits

• NTD 300,000/per year: Around USD 10,000/per year.
• The amount of Elite scholarship is issued by MOE, and it will be NTD 25,000 per month.
• The award will be awarded for fall 2023, which is used as funding for the tuition fee and credit fee, and the rest is used as a monthly stipend to support the study and living in NCKU.
