The Laboratory of Method Development and the Standards and Testing Section at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, Food and Drug Administration have a postdoctoral position (ORISE) available to participate in a collaborative project aiming at development and application of molecular methods (PCR, Q-PCR, microarray, DNA sequencing, etc.) for rapid detecting and analyzing bacterial (primarily mycoplasma) contamination in biological products. This study will include analysis of bacterial genomes and selection of target genes suitable for specific amplification and identification of bacterial species as well as optimization and evaluation of developed methods.

( votes)Experience in handling, cultivation, and analysis of Mollicutes (mycoplasmas) is desirable. The initial appointment is for one year and may be extended up to three years. Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
