Trade school also called as vocational school is higher level learning institute specializing students with trade and technical skills. The main goal of these trade schools is to impart education for students and get them into blue collar jobs. Basically, it is like getting a job in technical area, so instead of getting an education in science, liberal arts, trade school focuses on preparing students for technical courses. There are many trade schools in different countries that offer courses like electrician, mechanic, truck driver and many others.

In technical jobs, for freshers the salary is quite less but later on they are graduated to higher level. The basic advantage of a trade school is the short term courses compared to graduation courses. Basically, courses in trade school last for 2 years, compared to 4yrs of graduate programs. This means, you will be having additional years of experience.

In addition to this, average trade school degree costs $33,000, which, compared to a $127,000 bachelor’s degree, means a savings of $94,000.Yet another benefit of trade school is, it is quite difficult to export the job to another country. Some other benefits joining trade school at well-known institute are:

-Experienced Instructors: These trading courses are actually taught by experienced traders having years of experience in this field. Professionals help students in understanding the field practically.

-Certification Training: One of the benefit of completing your trading course is the certification which you will receive after completion of the course. However, to get the certification, you will need to pass out the test conducted by the institute.

-Time Saver: Community college take 2-3 yrs to complete specific courses. If you seek education from trade school, you will end up completing the course within 1 yr.

The college was established in the year 2008 in Queensland Australia. It was established in response to a need for an alternative style of senior education along with a training environment producing the best quality apprentices. It is a Queensland registered college offering approved courses and has earned awards of  Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Additionally, it is also a Registered Training Organization (RTO), governed by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) which is the responsibility of the Minister for Industry and Innovation. The college offers 500 apprenticeships and traineeships in engineering, hospitality, automative etc.

Scholarships: The college offers Trade Scholarships for Gold Coast students currently completing their course in year 10 and are selected to attend the ATIC in the year 11 in the coming year. The scholarship is awarded for students who show their talent in trade work, leadership, commitment to community service.

Lincoln Technical Institute

The institute was established in the year 1946 in the US and has been continuing to offer professional technical course. The institute offers  Certificate, Diploma and Associate degree programs are designed to accelerate entry into the workforce. Students after completing the technical course, can enter into fields like  Automotive, Health Sciences, Business and Information Technology, Skilled Trades, Spa and Cosmetology and Culinary.

Scholarship: The scholarship offered  by the institute is being funded by Lincoln Group of Schools. Some of the available scholarships are- Advantage Scholarship, American Hero Scholarship, Capitol Scholarship, Mark Hallquist Scholarship, Single Parent Scholarship and West Palm Merit Scholarship Program.

Louisiana Tech University

This university in US is being designated as a Tier One national university by the 2015 U.S. News & World Report college rankings and is the only Tier One national university in the nine-member University of Louisiana System. The university has been accredited by ABET, Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET and American Chemical Society.

California Institute of Technology

Caltech is among the small group of technology institute in US and is ranked 1st internationally since 2011 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The institute offers both UG and Graduate courses in various fields including vocational courses.

Scholarship: Caltech offers various types of financial aids which comes under grants, work-study and loans. Moreover, the institute also offers Outside scholarships for first year students and continuing students.

Carnegie Mellon University

This university in Pennyslvania was started in 1900.However, later in 1912, it became Carnegie Institute of Technology. The university is ranked 57th among the top universities in the world in the most current (2013–2014) by QS World University. Courses offered under vocational and tech departments- Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Scholarships: The university offers Carnegie scholarships for students who are academically and artistically talented. The scholarship is renewable for 8 semesters of UG education and for students who maintains satisfactory academic performance.

Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School

This vocational school is located in Marlborough. Technical courses offered here are Culinary Arts, Carpentry, Design & Visual Communications (D & V), Drafting & Design, Electrical Wiring (EW), HVAC and Plumbing and other trading course. Students are offered with training alongside high school for 10 months. Students complete 1,000 hours of training that deals with residential and commercial heating and gas system.

Bay Path Regional Vocational High School

The school was established in 1972 and is the secondary school in Charlton, Massachusetts. This school is a multifunctional educational facility. The school covers different courses which includes : Auto body, Automotive, Cabinetry, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Drafting, Electrical, Electronics, Facilities Management, plumbing and few others. Students complete plumbing tier 1-5 coursework, which meets the requirements to become a licensed plumber in the state.

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology

This institute was founded in 1908 offering programs in engineering and industrial technology. The college is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Students can complete plumbing for tiers 1 and 2 coursework that leads to a certificate. It is the only college in Massachusetts to offer Associate of Science degrees in Electrical Technology.

Scholarship: BFIT offers Merit based scholarships which includes- Trustee’s Scholarship ($1000- $5000), Presidential Leadership Scholarship ($1000-$2000) and Benjamin Franklin Scholarship ($1000-$3500).Apart from this, bank also offers federal and state grants which includes The Pell Grant ($577-$5,550), The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) and Massachusetts State Aid.

Motoring Technical Training Institute (MTTI)

This small technical school located in Seekonk is accredited and re-accredited every five years by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. The college offers short term training encourages a quicker path to potential employment and balance of training related to academics to learn practical skills.

Scholarship: The institute offers different type of loans under Direct Subsized Loans, Direct Unsubsized Loans and Direct Plus Loans. To get these loans, you must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
