Agriculture Scholarships, 2018-2019

Global and national universities offer agriculture scholarships to facilitate students in acquiring their degrees at least possible funding. Agriculture is the art and production of cultivating the soil, raising the domestic animals that will be helpful as livestock and for producing crops.

The agriculture sector is also known as farming or husbandry. Agriculture sector offers numerous career prospects like Agricultural Research, Agri-Business, Farming, Conservation, Agricultural Engineering, Poultry farming, Plant Pathology, Aquaculture, Environmental Engineering, Food and Dairy Technology etc.

Many agriculture scholarships are available for both international and local students to attain their agricultural academic degrees. Below are the scholarships for students who wish to pursue their career in agriculture.

Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme in Ireland, 2020-2021
The Kader Asmal Fellowship programme is available for students of South Africa or Zimbabwe (in possession of a South African permanent resident permit). There are approximately eight fellowships under the general strand and one Human Rights Law fellowship. However, awards will be made on the basis of available funding and suitable applicants and numbers may vary. The application deadline is September 11, 2019

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Azerbaijani Students, 2017
Applications are invited for Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program from Azerbaijani Students for 2017-2018 academic year. It provides grants to conduct postdoctoral research at U.S. institutions from an academic semester (4 months) to a full academic year (9 months). Researchers, university lecturers and experts from academic institutions, government and non-government structures who wish to conduct post-doctoral research, lecture, or pursue combined lecturing and research in the United States are eligible to participate in this program.

CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarships for Australian Students, 2016
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is offering postgraduate scholarships for Australian Students. Scholarships are available to full-time postgraduate students who are undertaking research which will lead to the award of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). CSIRO offers full and top-up Postgraduate Scholarships for periods of up to three years. Top-up scholarships valued at $7,000 per year (full scholarships available in certain circumstances).

IMMANA Postdoctoral Fellowships for International Applicants, 2017
Applications are invited for one year IMMANA postdoctoral fellowships to create a cadre of emerging leaders in Agriculture, Nutrition, and Health research. These fellowships are awarded to early-career researchers who are using and developing or adapting these new methodological approaches with mentors in ongoing research programmes in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Selection will give preference to applicants who have research or faculty appointments in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia but applicants may be of any nationality and have earned their doctorate anywhere. Applicants must propose to conduct fieldwork or other research under the joint supervision of two mentors. At least one of the two mentors must be physically located in Africa or Asia. The application deadline is 1 February.

IACBGF-Fellowships for Indian Researchers in Australia
Applications are invited for Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold Fellowships (IACBGF Fellowships). The fellowships will be supported to undertake a collaborative research project at a leading science institute or university Australia for a period of up to 24 months. Ten fellowships will be awarded an individual basis.

USPCAS-AFS Merit and Needs-Based Scholarships for Pakistani/AJK Students
U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security is offering merit and needs-based scholarships for Pakistani students. These scholarships are available for masters and PhD candidates, qualifying to seek admission in the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad for the winter session. The scholarship provides funds for tuition fee; stipend and boarding charges

NRF-TWAS Doctoral/Renaissance Doctoral Fellowships in South Africa
Applications are invited for the NRF–TWAS doctoral fellowship programme from scientists to enable them to pursue PhD research in the natural sciences. There are two types of fellowships available i.e. the NRF-TWAS Doctoral Fellowships to scientists from developing countries (other than South Africa) and the NRF-TWAS African Renaissance Doctoral Fellowships to scientists from Africa (other than South Africa) at research institutions in South Africa for a maximum period of three years.

Fulbright STEM Awards for U.S. Graduate Students in Canada
Applications are Fulbright STEM Awards from US students to pursue PhD study in Canada beginning in September 2016. The STEM award is a three-year award valued at some $120,000 (tuition, fees, and an annual stipend of $20,000). In addition to the tuition award and the stipend, the Foundation provides considerable additional support, which includes health and accident insurance, immigration services, scholar services and enrichment activities.

Netaji Subhas-ICAR International Fellowships in India
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is inviting applications for Indian candidates as well as overseas candidates for a period of three years. A number of fellowships available every year for a programme leading to a PhD degree under this scheme will be thirty (30). The allocation of fellowships between Indian and Overseas candidates will depend upon the availability of good candidates in the identified priority areas.

Commonwealth Professional Fellowships
Commonwealth Professional Fellowships provide an opportunity for mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth countries to spend a period of time with a UK host organization working in their field for a program of professional development. The duration of the fellowships between one and three months this may be extended up to a maximum of six months. The fellowships cover the living expenses for the fellow as well as a return airfare to the UK. It also provides £800 funding support to the host organization, with a budget of up to £3,000 available for attendance at conferences, on short courses and other eligible costs. The CSC cannot accept any applications directly from prospective Fellows. The closing date for applications for 2015 (Round 1) Commonwealth Professional Fellowships is 9 January 2015.

Lord Walston Agriculture Scholarship
The University of East Anglia is awarding Lord Walston Scholarship for African students. The scholarship is awarded to undertake MA Agriculture and Rural Development, the MSc Environment and International Development or the MSc Climate Change and International Development programme. The Scholarship covers full fees and maintenance (living expenses).

2015 Ohio Soybean Council Foundation (OSCF) Scholarships
Ohio Soybean Council is offering undergraduate or graduate scholarships in Ohio. Undergraduate scholarship applicants must be Ohio residents and enrolled as full-time students at an Ohio college or university. Graduate scholarships are available to graduate students who are enrolled as a full-time student at an Ohio college or university and have proof of legal residency in the United States. Six awards of up to $3,000 each, one Farmer Lumpe+McClelland $3,000 scholarship and one award of $5,000 to the winner of the Bhima Vijayendran Scholarship will be awarded. Scholarships of up to $5,000 each are available to graduate students. 

Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship
National Youth Development Agency invites applications for Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship available for South African students. Scholarships are awarded for high school learners who plan to attend one of the participating universities as a 1st-year full-time student after completing the National Senior Certificate. The Scholarship will cover 100% of the cost for books, university residence meals, tuition, university accommodation and private accommodation.

The ACAS/ Coca-Cola Agriculture Scholarships 
The Australian Council of Agricultural Societies (ACAS) and Coca-Cola are inviting applications for the ACAS/ Coca-Cola agriculture scholarships program. Any Australian citizens or permanent residents are eligible for this Agriculture Scholarship. Up to 35 scholarships will be awarded. Scholarship of $2000 each will be awarded. Call for Applications: Cargill Global Scholars Program
Applications are invited for Cargill Global Scholars Program available to talented, high performing university students who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement and leadership potential. The scholarship will be awarded to study in a field relevant to Cargill’s world of food, agriculture and risk management. The Cargill Global Scholars Program includes the following countries: Brazil, China, India, Russia and the United States. The scholarship is offered for up to three years.

Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellowship Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture invites applications for Borlaug Fellowship Program available for fellows from developing and middle-income countries. Fellowships are awarded for following programs: Agricultural Policy Executive Leadership Program: The Borlaug Agricultural Policy Executive Leadership Program is targeted to senior agricultural policymakers from the independent states of the former Soviet Union and Sub-Saharan Africa.

DairyNZ Scholarships
Applications are invited for DairyNZ Scholarships to undertake agriculture or agricultural-related degree at either Lincoln or Massey Universities. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students with a particular interest in dairying, who are undertaking agriculture or agricultural-related degree at either Lincoln or Massey Universities. Students of New Zealand can apply for these DairyNZ Scholarships. The scholarship is tenable for up to four years. The scholarship pays the full, formal annual tuition fees – up to a maximum of $5750 per year.

Dr. Karl C. Ivarson Agricultural Scholarship 
Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation (AICF) offers Dr. Karl C. Ivarson Agricultural Scholarship for Canadian Students for the year 2014. In 2014 there will be one Master of Science scholarship of $8,000 and one PhD scholarship of $13,000. The number of scholarships will depend on the income generated from Dr. Ivarson’s generous gift to the AIC Foundation.

LPDP Master and Doctoral Agriculture Scholarship Program
The scholarship is available for pursuing master and doctoral program to study at either Indonesia or abroad. Agriculture scholarship is awarded for a maximum of two (2) years for the Master program and a maximum of four (4) years for the doctoral program. The maximum age for applicants scholarships at the close of registration are 35 (thirty-five) years of the Master program and 40 (forty) years for the doctoral program. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Africa Land and Food Fellowship
African Fellowship Trust is inviting applications for masters fellowship for Sub-Saharan Africans. The programme is specifically linked to the MSc International Rural Development and the MSc Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security courses at RAU in the UK. Ten African fellows each year will be awarded. Scholarships cover tuition fees, board and accommodation, flights to and from the UK (and where applicable to and from South Africa), provision for networking and a short industrial placement either in Africa under the guidance of Stellenbosch University or in the UK. Scholarships also cover incidental costs whilst in the UK and on placement; however, applicants are advised that funding does not include provision for home and family costs.

GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS for DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
Applications are invited for Czech Government Scholarships available for foreign nationals from developing countries to pursue Bachelor/ Master/ Doctoral degree program at public universities in the Czech Republic in the field of Economics, Agriculture, Informatics, Environment and Energetic. Czech Government Scholarships are available for foreign nationals from developing countries. A limited number of scholarships are also offered to applicants from selected developing countries through UNESCO. The application deadline is 30 September. Prospective Applicants are advised to address concerning their inquiries, among others, their Eligibility and a closing date for applications to the Czech Embassies in their countries.

Newcastle University Agriculture Scholarships
The International Office of Newcastle University is announcing agriculture scholarships for postgraduate students in the UK. The scholarship covers £3,500, payable towards the first year of tuition fees. Applicants should have an upper-second-class degree or higher from a recognized Kenyan university and satisfy all other requirements.

Guest Scholarship Programme
Agriculture scholarship is for pursuing postdoctoral research at Swedish universities and research institutes. Applicants have already lived in Sweden for two or more years when the scholarship period is due to begin. The scholarships will be granted for long-term visits during the academic year 2014/ 2015. The online application deadline is 15 January.

Lord Walston Agriculture Scholarship
Agriculture scholarship is available for African applicants who are working in natural resource-based projects. The scholarship covers full fees and maintenance (living expenses). The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. The application deadline is 16th March.

Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development Fellowship Programme
The fellowships are available for pursuing master (MSc) degree in the field of Agricultural Sciences, Horticulture and Rural development and agribusiness. These will cover tuition, books and subsistence costs for the entire duration of the course. The awarded students, however, will be responsible for financing their travel to and from Hungary. Applications will close on 28th February.

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships
Agriculture scholarships are for pursuing postgraduate research at the University of Sydney in Australia. The scholarship is valued at the same rate as the Australian Postgraduate Award ($24,653 in 2013). The Scholarship is open to graduates of universities who are members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and graduates of any country who are citizens of a Commonwealth country or Australian permanent residents. The deadline for applications is 20th January.

AIC Foundation Agriculture Scholarships
Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation is offering agriculture scholarships for graduate students in Canada. Candidates must be enrolled in their graduate program until at least one semester beyond the application deadline. Two scholarships amount $5,000 each will be offered. The application deadline is January 17.

Clyde Higgs Agriculture Scholarships for Master Students
Agriculture scholarships are available for pursuing a master degree programme at Newcastle University. Newcastle University is offering up to five masters scholarships of £5,000 each towards fees and maintenance. Applications will be judged on academic potential, enthusiasm and aptitude for the chosen programme of study. Applications must be submitted by 31st July.

TÜBITAK Graduate Agriculture Scholarship Programme
Agriculture scholarships are available for pursuing graduate degree level. The maximum duration for the TÜBITAK scholarship is 2 years for the Masters and 4 years for the PhD program. Applicants must be 30 years old or younger for the MSc/MA programs and 35 years old or younger for the PhD programs on the first day of the application period. Applications are evaluated by a peer review panel system by considering the application documents. The application period starts on 4 August 2014 and ends on 12 September.
