South Asia Foundation Scholarships for International Students at University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka, 2017

The South Asia Foundation (SAF) announces fully paid scholarships at UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre for South Asia Water Management (UMCSAWM). Scholarships are available for international students to pursue the one-year (full-time) master degree offered by the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka for the 2017/2018 intake.

The aim of the course is to provide a specialist training with a firm grounding in the principles, techniques, issues and practice of Water Engineering to practising engineers, while covering Watershed and water resources management, Water pollution, treatment and waste disposal, GIS, Remote sensing, and Environmental assessments, etc.

The South Asia Foundation (SAF) is a secular, non-profit and non-political organisation, which was established in September 2000. Its objective is to uphold its core values of regional cooperation and peace through education and cultural interaction between the eight SAARC countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Students need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Master of Science Degree/ Postgraduate Diploma.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in Water Resources Engineering and Management at the Department of Civil Engineering.

Scholarship Award: Fully paid scholarships are available for available.

Number of Scholarships: There are eight scholarships available.

Scholarship can be taken in Sri Lanka

Eligibility: The postgraduate degree course scheduled to commence in May 2017 is for both local and international engineering professionals who wish to obtain a postgraduate degree/diploma in Water Resources Engineering and Management.

Nationality: Both local and international students are eligible to apply.

College Admission Requirement

English Language Requirement: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

How to Apply:

Please submit duly filled-out application forms (Pages 1 ~ 3) with confidential recommendations from two non-related referees (Pages 5-6 & 7-8), and other supportive documents, as instructed in the form.

Please check whether you have attached the following with the application:

  • Copies of certificates of academic qualifications (degree certificate and transcripts).
  • Copies of certificates of membership/associate membership/graduateship of professional institutions.
  • Letter of consent from employer regarding leave/permission to follow the course (Page 4 of the application)
  • Letter of sponsorship (if applicable)
  • Copies of certificates of English language proficiency (compulsory for all international applicants)
  • Photographs (4 copies) and copies of Birth certificate & National identity card/Valid passport
