The University of Sussex is a leading higher education and research institution near Brighton, in the south of England. Sussex was the first of the new wave of UK universities founded in the 1960s. Its goal is to deliver teaching and learning programmes that are informed by current research, are attractive to students from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and which deliver skills for life.

Candidates must have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a first or upper second class honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent from an overseas institution, and/or have equivalent relevant professional experience.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue masters degree programme at the University of Sussex.

Study Subject: Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.

Scholarship Award: The scholarship will be paid in one instalment of £10,000 in October 2017. In the first instance the scholarship will be a fee waiver, with any remaining funds paid as a maintenance payment.

Eligibility: 

  • All UK, EU and international candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have accepted a full-time offer of a place on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict commencing in September 2017.
  • Candidates must have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a first or upper second class honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent from an overseas institution, and/or have equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Candidates must meet all the University’s general entrance requirements.

Nationality: All UK, EU and international candidates are eligible to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Candidates must have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a first or upper second class honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent from an overseas institution, and/or have equivalent relevant professional experience.

Test Requirement: No

English language Requirements: English required for postgraduate study at Sussex, depending on your chosen course. In terms of IELTS, the standard requirement is IELTS 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each section.

PhD Scholarships

How to Apply: There is a two stage process to apply for the scholarship:

Stage one: Candidates may only apply for the scholarship once they have accepted a place on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict. Candidates should therefore apply for a place on the MA at least two weeks before the scholarship deadline of 31 May in order to allow sufficient time for the MA application to be processed.

Stage two: Once a place has been accepted on the MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict candidates should complete and return the attached scholarship application form by 31 May.
