ZOiS Fellowships for Ukrainian Scholars in Germany

The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) is delighted to announce  ZOiS Fellowships for Ukrainian Scholars for the academic year 2023-2024. 

ZOIS is exclusively establishing these fellowship opportunities for Ukrainian students to fill the positions of one senior Berlin-based fellow, one junior Berlin-based fellow, and three Ukraine-based fellows. The applicants must have a minim M.A. qualification with some experience to be considered. The appointed fellows can expect a maximum of 2650 Euros, insurance, and other benefits.

The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOIS) is a publicly funded research institute. Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Students from Ukraine can apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply for the position of senior Berlin-based fellow, junior Berlin-based fellow, or Ukraine-based fellow at the Centre for East European and International Studies.  
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must reside in Ukraine. 
  • The applicants must have or had an active university, research institute, or think tank affiliation in Ukraine.
  • The applicants must be residing in Berlin if required. 

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Students who want to apply for this opportunity must complete an application form and submit it via mail at[email protected] along with the below listed supporting documents. 
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Basic personal and professional data
  • 2-pager with the project idea (what, why, how, policy implications, risks related to data collection) 
  • A letter explaining your professional interest and motivation in this project
  • CV with a list of publications
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have an M.A. degree qualification and some experience to support it. 
  • Language Requirement: The students must have English and Ukrainian language knowledge. However, knowledge of German also will be preferred. 

Benefits

The successfully selected candidates will be appointed at one of the three available positions, subject to eligibility and will be provided the following benefits: 

  • The senior Berlin-based fellow – appointment for 12 months, approximately 2650 Euro Net, private health insurance, research and travel budget. 
  • The junior Berlin-based fellow – appointment for 12 months, approximately 2050 Euro Net, private health insurance, research and travel budget. 
  • The Ukraine-based fellow – appointment for 12 months, 800 Euro, research and travel budget.
