The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) is excitedly inviting all quantum technology enthusiasts from all over the world to participate in the CQT Scholarships offered in Singapore for the academic year 2022-2023.

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) has enabled applications for this funding opportunity for students from all over the world that have a passion for research in quantum information and at least a good 2nd Upper Honours or equivalent qualifications. Winners will be provided a bundle of benefits, including a monthly allowance of up to S$3,700, tuition fees, one-time airfare, and a research allowance of S$12,000.

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) is a Research Centre of Excellence (RCE) in Singapore that brings together physicists, computer scientists, and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), established in December 2007 with support from Singapore’s National Research Foundation and Ministry of Education, is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and also has staff at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). It harbors quantum technologists skilled in planning and problem-solving, with diverse skills such as coding, circuit design, and systems engineering.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: All international and Singaporean national students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply for research studies at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT).
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Open worldwide.
  • The applicants must hold a passion for research in quantum information.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: The students must log in to the applicant’s portal and apply for admission. All eligible students will be considered accordingly.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A true certified copy of your NRIC or Passport
  • A true certified copy of your National Service certificate (if applicable)
  • A true certified copy of high-school level results or equivalent
  • Certified true copies of award/prizes and certificates (if any)
  • GRE scores (Mandatory for applicants applying for admission in AY2023/2024 onwards)
  • OpenCerts (if available) or Certified true copies of university transcripts and degree scrolls
  • Two letters of recommendation to be emailed directly to [email protected]
  • One passport-sized photograph taken within the last three months, clear and in focus, 35mm wide by 45mm high, without any border (non-returnable)
  • Any other supporting documents that could strengthen your application? e.g. a personal statement
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have at least good 2nd Upper Honours or equivalent qualifications.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:

Benefits

The applicants selected will be awarded the following benefits by the Centre for Quantum Technologies:

  • The monthly stipend for international students is S$2,800, which will be revised to S$3,300 upon passing the qualifying exam; for Singapore citizens, the respective amounts are S$3,200, and they also receive the prevailing employer’s contribution to CPF (up to 4 years); for Singapore Permanent residents, the respective amounts are $3,000 and $3,500.
  • Annual tuition fees and mandatory miscellaneous fees.
  • One-off airfare to Singapore reimbursed up to S$1,500.
  • A research allowance of S$12,000 for academic travel, a one-off expense towards a computer, and purchase of books and software during candidature, subject to prior approval of all expenses.
