The University of New South Wales is pleased to announce the Ian and Barbara Burgess Memorial Rural Science Scholarships for the academic year 2021-2022. The scholarship programme is open for Australian and New Zealand students in Australia.

This scholarship programme is set for New Zealand and Australian citizens who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree in the field of science. The students will get a fixed amount annually to cover the cost of study as a reward upon winning the scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Australia and New Zeland
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply to undertake any undergraduate programme at the Faculty of Science of UNSW.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be commencing a full-time undergraduate (single or double) degree program in the Faculty of Science at UNSW in 2021.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: The applicants are required to apply for the PhD program through the university’s online portal or through the UAC portal. Applicants can search for the scholarship they wish to apply for here and start the application process.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Citizenship proof
  • IB degree
  • High school records
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have completed the NSW HSC or equivalent or IB in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS – 6.5
  • TOEFL IBT – 90
  • TOEFL PBT – 577
  • PTE – 64
  • C1 – 176
  • C2 – 180

Benefits

The selected applicants will be rewarded $11,000 per annum for the minimum duration of the undergraduate science program chosen at UNSW.
