Providers’ Details

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), provides e-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities. This is a joint initiative by seven IITs and IISc Bangalore. Other selected premier institutions also act as Associate Partner Institutions.

About This Course

A biomaterial is any natural or synthetic material used to replace or augment a part of the body so that it improves human health by restoring the function of the natural living tissue or organ. It should be biocompatible and should not cause any adverse systemic reaction to the host. It could be a polymer, metal, ceramic or combination of these. It may have to be in contact or remain in the body for a few hours or for the rest of the life of the person.

Why Take This Course?

This is a free online course. This MOOC will be offered with Video Transcripts in English.  Applicants can get a verified certificate.

Requirements

Basics of physics, chemistry and mathematics.
