Humanities Research Fellowship Program at NYUAD Institute in UAE, 2019-2020

The NYUAD Institute is awarding Humanities Research Fellowship Program from distinguished senior scholars as well as from promising junior scholars for residential fellowships at the Institute.

This program aims to help create an energetic, multi-faceted research environment for the Humanities at NYUAD’s campus.

New York University Abu Dhabi is a research university with a fully integrated liberal arts and science college, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Scholarship Description

  • Study Subject: While open to scholars working in all areas of the Humanities, the program aims in particular to build a center of outstanding research capacity in areas of the Humanities that are relevant for the study of the Arabic world, its rich intellectual, religious, and scientific history, its cultural and artistic heritage as expressed in traditional and new media, and its interaction with other cultures in the past and present.
  • Scholarship Award: For the period of their fellowships, scholars are offered work/office space at the Institute, full use of NYUAD’s library facilities (which are substantial, closely connected as they are to NYU’s Main Library in New York), administrative support, housing at NYUAD’s campus on Saadiyat Island, a fellowship stipend commensurate with experience, a personal research allowance, an opportunity to host a small workshop funded by the Research Institute, support for travel to and from Abu Dhabi. Eligible candidates for the senior fellowships have an outstanding scholarly accomplishment, including an internationally recognized publication record. Mid-career scholars with strong publication records and exceptional scholarly promise may be considered in this category. Eligible candidates for the junior fellowships, which are intended especially for young scholars who wish to turn their doctoral dissertations into book manuscripts publishable with major academic presses, have received their PhD within the previous five years and have a strong record of scholarly accomplishment.

All research fellowships will be offered to scholars who demonstrate interest in playing an active role in the intellectual community of NYUAD, in particular by exchanging ideas with other Institute fellows and with NYU faculty and students. The fellowships are open to scholars of all backgrounds and nationalities.

English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at New York University in USA, 2018

The New York University is inviting applications for Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The fellowship program is open to all areas of study at the University.

The NYU Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports promising scholars and educators from diverse backgrounds whose life experience and research experience will contribute significantly to academic excellence at NYU.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

The fellowship program is open to all areas of study at the University. Individuals who meet one of the following criteria are eligible to apply:

  • Individuals who have completed their dissertation within the last three years or who will have completed their dissertation by September 1, 2018; or
  • Professionals transitioning to academic careers (for those in field for which the doctorate is not the terminal degree)

NYU does not sponsor visa application for this Fellowship. Fellowship recipients must provide proof of authorization to work in the United States.

Applications are invited for World Journalist Fellowship for the year 2017. This fellowship provides support to international journalists who enroll in one of their graduate programs in journalism at the NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.

-Military Veterans Scholarship: This full tuition scholarship includes a small stipend and the scholarship is awarded to meritorious U.S. Military Veterans who have also exemplified leadership, honor and service. Stern Scholarship: This one-year scholarship covers full tuition for the first year of study and is awarded to admitted students showing strong merit. This scholarship is awarded for the first year of the program only.
-Community Scholarship: This one-year $10,000 scholarship is awarded to a select group of admitted students who demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and the potential to be strong contributors to the Stern community. This scholarship is awarded for the first year of the program only.
-Forté Fellowship: (awarded in conjunction with a partner organization)- The Forté Foundation is a consortium of major corporations, top business schools and influential nonprofit organizations dedicated to educating and advancing women in business. Stern designates Forté Fellows at the time of admission to exceptional women candidates who are also receiving a merit based scholarship.

Center for Neural Science New York University Postdoc Position

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Center for Neural Science at New York University for research into the neural mechanisms of sensory-motor behavior.   The project will investigate activity in neuronal circuits of the posterior parietal cortex and its relationship to eye-hand coordination and decision making.  Experimental work will involve simultaneous multiple area, multiple electrode recordings in behaving animals.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have a PhD in neuroscience, bioengineering or a related field, experimental experience in neurophysiology, and experience programming in MATLAB.  They will benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities and a vibrant community at the Washington Square campus of NYU.  Salary will follow NIH guidelines commensurate with training and experience.
