Data Science PhD Studentships for UK, EU and International Students in UK, 2018

For the academic year 2018-2019, City University of London is offering two full-time, three-year PhD studentships at the Department of Computer Science. Studentships are available for UK, EU and international graduates wishing to pursue cutting-edge research in Data Science.

City, University of London is a public research university in London, United Kingdom. Until 2016 its name was City University, London, or colloquially, City.

The candidate should have a very good command of English language. Therefore, the application should be written in English.

Scholarship Description:

  • Application Deadline: April 27, 2018
  • Course Level: Studentships are available for pursuing PhD programme.
  • Study Subject: Studentships are awarded in the field of Data Science.
  • Scholarship Award: A doctoral studentship will provide:
    An annual bursary (£16,000 in 2018/19)
    A full tuition fee for UK and EU students. Applications from overseas applicants are welcome but the applicant must make appropriate arrangements to cover the difference between the overseas and UK tuition fee.
  • Number of Scholarships: There are two studentships available.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

  • Eligible Countries: UK, EU and International students can apply for these studentships
  • Entrance Requirements: The studentships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and the potential to produce cutting edge-research.
    Applicants must hold at least a 2.1 honours degree or merit level Masters degree in a relevant subject (or international equivalent)
    Applicants whose first language is not English must have achieved at least 6.5 in IELTS or a recognised equivalent
    Applicants must not be currently registered as a doctoral student at City, University of London or any other academic institution.
  • English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language then you will need to show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.

Application Procedure:

Applications must consist of a research degree application form, three-page research proposal, proof of academic qualifications, proof of English language proficiency (if you do not speak English as your first language) and two confidential references (one of which must be an academic reference).

Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation Scholarships for Masters Students in UK, 2017

The Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation funds several full scholarships exclusively for students who have been offered places on the MA in Financial Journalism. Both UK/EU and overseas students are eligible to apply.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for masters degree programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are available in Financial Journalism. The scholarships can cover the full cost of tuition, and discretionary living costs, dependent on need.

Number of Awards: From September 2017, up to four students will be backed each year by the new Marjorie Deane Intellectual Excellence Scholarships, which will cover course fees in full.

Scholarship Award: The foundation is also continuing its support for an endowed professorship in financial journalism. In total, it has pledged to contribute £550,000 over the next three years.

City, University of London President’s Scholarship for International Students in UK, 2019

The City, University of London is offering President’s Scholarship for international students starting an undergraduate course at City in September 2019.

The City, University of London Scholarship Programme aims to provide financial support to undergraduates coming from the lowest household income groups.

  • Scholarship Award: The Scholarship is worth £2000 each year towards tuition fees and is paid for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance each year.

    For courses in the Cass Business School, achieve grades A*AA or above in ‘A’ Levels (or A*A*A for Actuarial Science) or IB 38 or above in the International Baccalaureate (or IB 39 for Actuarial Science)
    For Journalism based in the Schools of Arts and Social Sciences, achieve grades A*AA or above in ‘A’ Levels or IB 38 or above

City University of London Global Leaders Scholarships in UK, 2018-2019

The City University of London is offering up to 50 Global Leaders Scholarships to international and EU students who are starting an undergraduate course at the university in September 2018.

The City, University of London Scholarship Programme aims to provide financial support to undergraduates coming from the lowest household income groups.

  • Course Level: The Scholarships are available to undergraduate students assessed as ‘EU’ or ‘International’ by City, University of London.
  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the university.
  • Scholarship Award: The scholarship is worth £1,000 and there will be a minimum of 50 scholarships available in 2018. The scholarship is payable in year one of the course and cash payments will be made in February 2019.
  • Number of Scholarships: 50 scholarships are available.

  • Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

  • Eligible Countries: Scholarships are available to EU or international students.
  • Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for a Global Leaders Scholarship, you must:
    • Be an EU or international student with your home country’s equivalent to A-levels (for example French Baccalaureate, Italian Maturita or US High School Diploma)
    • International students undertaking a recognised international foundation programme
    • Be applying for your first year of undergraduate study in 2017/18
    • Achieve the grades set out in the terms of your offer from City

    Please note: This scholarship is not eligible to International (non UK/EU) students with overseas fee status from Cass Business School. These students from Cass are encouraged to apply via the Scholarship pages for the Cass Business School International Scholarship.

How to Apply: Eligible applicants will be contacted directly with an invitation to register for the scholarship. If you believe you should have received an email or have deleted or lost your email invitation, please contact ugscholarships-at-city.ac.uk.

To be considered for the scholarship for 2018 entry, you must register by no later than 30th September 2018. As part of the application, you must provide a short personal statement of no more than 200 words that describes how an education at City, University of London will help you to develop into a global leader of the future. Applications will be assessed by members of the University Admissions Office on the basis of academic merit and the quality of applicants’ personal statements. Shortlisted applicants may be required to provide further information.

You will be sent an email in January 2019 confirming your award and asking for your bank account details. You must confirm your bank account details to City by 31st January 2019 to enable your payment to be processed in February.
