VLIR-UOS supports partnerships between universities and colleges in Flanders and the South that are searching for answers to global and local challenges. They stimulate cooperative projects between professors, researchers and lecturers and award grants to students and professionals in Flanders and the South. Finally, they help reinforce higher education in the South and the development-relevant internationalization of higher education in Flanders.

International Training Programme Projects Scholarships (ITP) 2023

Eligibility       

  • Eligible Countries: Benin, Bolivia, Burundi, Cuba, DR Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: A training programme.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • An application for ITP involves both a Flemish and a local promoter, but the Flemish promoter applies. The Flemish promotor has to be employed as a professor, lecturer, or specialist at a Flemish university or university of applied science & arts.
  • If there is a partner promoter, they need to be employed at a recognized higher education institution or national public (not for profit) research institute located in one of the 17 VLIR-UOS project partner countries.
  • It is important to note that an applicant (Flemish/local) can only submit one project proposal for this call.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: To apply, applicants must complete the online application for a training programme. An application involves a Flemish promoter. The Flemish promoter submits the application to the Institutional Coordinators for Development Cooperation (ICOS) of the Flemish university (association) for quality control.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to submit the documents such as academic transcripts.
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must hold a previous degree certificate with remarkable results.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must have to submit certificates of English language competency. 

Benefits

Scholars will receive an award of EUR 150.000. This budget is to be spent for a maximum of 3 years, allowing multiple training modules to be organized.
