Germany Fellowships for Indian Journalists at University of Tübingen in Germany, 2019

The Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Center for Media Competence at the University of Tübingen is awarding Germany fellowships for Indian journalists. Successful candidates will visit Germany from June to August 2019.

The term media ambassadors (“Medienbotschafter”) express the program partners’ aim to strengthen international understanding between India and Germany through journalism exchange. The fellowship program “Media Ambassadors India – Germany” aims to attract journalists with an interest in international understanding between India and Germany.

The perception of Germans and Indians is largely defined and influenced by the media. An increase in reporting, however, does not necessarily lead to a better understanding of each other. Scholarship Description

Indian fellows coming to Germany will participate in a one-month academic course at Center for Media Competence at the University of Tübingen, before putting their newly acquired knowledge into practice at editorial departments in Hamburg or Berlin for eight weeks.

FITM-AYUSH Fellowships for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Research at RIS in India, 2019

The Proposal is to broadly comply with the following guidelines:

  1. Title of the project.
  2. Statement of the Problem: In the opening paragraphs of the research proposal, the problem to be investigated should be stated clearly and briefly. The significance of the topic in the context of the ITMs should be explained.
  3. Overview of Literature: The overview of literature should summarize the current status of research, including major findings in the proposed area of study. The research Proposal should clearly establish the relevance of the approaches and findings to the objective of Research Fellowship.
  4. Conceptual Framework: The Proposal should clearly indicate the concepts to be used and demonstrate their relevance for the study. It should further specify the empirical dimension, if any, that need to be explored for carrying out research.
  5. Research Questions/Hypotheses: Given the conceptual framework and dimensions of the research to be conducted, specific questions to be answered and hypotheses to be tested through the proposed study should be explicitly formulated, compatible with the research design.
  6. Coverage: In the light of the research proposed, if sampling becomes necessary, full information on the following points should be given: (I) universe of the study, (ii) sampling frame, and (iii) units of observation and sampling size.
  7. If the study requires any control groups, they should be specifically mentioned. An explanation of the determination of size and type of the sample shall also be necessary. Proposals not requiring a sample selection should specify their strategy appropriately and describe the rationale behind it.
  8. Methodology: A suitable description of the methods of research for the study may be given.
  9. Data Collection: The different types of data proposed to be collected should be clearly mentioned. The sources for each type and the tools and techniques that will be used for collecting these data should also be specified.
  10. Time Budgeting: The Proposal should have a clearly defined time line, specifying the time required for the completion of each stage of research.
  11. The Proposal is not to exceed a word limit of 3000.

50 ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowships for ASEAN Member States in India, 2019

Applications are invited for Up to 50 ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowships (AI-RTF) per year to young scientists and researchers from ASEAN-Member Countries to get affiliated with Indian academic and R&D institutions. Students form ASEAN Member States are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

The AIRTF scheme is a fellowship scheme with the following objectives: To promote mobility of scientists and researchers from the ASEAN-Member Countries to India and provide them opportunity to work at Indian R&D/ academic institutions to upgrade their research skills and expertise. To facilitate exchange of information and contacts between the scientists and researchers of India and ASEAN Countries and create a network for building research collaborations.

ASEAN-India Science & Technology Collaboration formally started in 1996 with establishment of ASEAN India S&T working group (AIWGST). Initially, the collaborative S&T projects and activities between India and ASEAN were supported through ASEAN India Fund (AIF) but in 2008, a dedicated ASEAN India S&T Development Fund (AISTDF) with an equivalent amount of 1 million US $ was established jointly by MEA and DST to support R&D projects and associated project development activities. The AISTDF was enhanced to an equivalent amount of 5 Million US$ through an announcement by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on sidelines of ASEAN-India Summit in Malaysia in November 2015. The ASEAN-India Innovation Platform is the major element of enhanced AISTDF.

Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: The applications can be submitted at any time during the year. There is no specific deadline for submitting the applications. The application will be processed in two cycles ending 30th June and 31st December of each year.
  • Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue Research.
  • Study Subject: The area/ topic of research for availing AIRTF must be ASEAN centric and must be aligned with the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI)-2016-2025. A copy of the APASTI is placed at Appendix-I. Fellowship will be offered for working in research topics under any of the following broad disciplines:

All international travel related expenses i.e. round trip international airfare by excursion/ economy class by shortest route from the international airport in the home country of the applicant to the international airport nearest to the host institution in India; visa fees, overseas medical insurance etc.
  2. A consolidated Fellowship amount of Indian Rupees (INR) 50,000 per month (non-taxable) for accommodation, meals and other miscellaneous.
  3. One-time grant of INR 40,000/- for 6 months period for research contingency expenses, airport transfers, domestic travel (by road) for attending scientific /events and field-trips within India, and Institutional overhead charges @ Rs. 2,500/- per month.
  4. The allowance as in (a), (b) and (c) will be released to the host institution in India for disbursement to the Fellow. The host Institution will arrange appropriate accommodation for the Fellow on payment basis.
  • Nationality: Students from ASEAN Member States are eligible to apply for this fellowship.
  • Number of Scholarships: Initially to start with 50 (fifty) Fellowships per year shall be awarded to young scientists and researchers from ASEAN-Member Countries to get affiliated with Indian academic and R&D institutions. These Fellowships shall be equally distributed among ASEAN Member Country. Initially, 5 Fellowship shall be allocated for each ASEAN country. However, this number could be re-adjusted in accordance with the number of applicants from respective each ASEAN MS.

Craft Colaborative Fellowship for Designers and Young Professionals in India, 2019

The new Craft Colaborative Fellowship is now available on offer for Indian applicants. The craft design fellowship is open to designers and young professionals to develop a range of new products for the terracotta craft community of Gundiyali.

As part of the Craft Experience tourism project, the fellowship is an opportunity for designers to engage and collaboratively work with the craft cluster of Gundiyali. It is a platform where an individual gets to work with a traditional potter family of Gundiyali to create craft design products.

Design Innovation and Craft Resource Centre (DICRC) is a research centre that aims to promote study and development of traditional and vernacular, building and craft, practices of India; by means of: mapping and documenting buildings and crafts; conducting educational programs and innovation workshops; and independent research alongside collaborative – national and international – research projects, to name a few.

­The new Chevening Financial Services Fellowship for mid-career professionals. This fellowship is being funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships – the recipients of which are personally selected by British Embassies and High Commissions throughout the world.

Inspired by an explosion of interest in photography in India and the talent that is slowly becoming visible, we have launched this global platform dedicated to showcase contemporary and imaginative images with intent of promoting photography in the country.
This page tells you about the competition, how to enter, how to prepare your images for the competition, and the types of entries you can submit. The competition and the results are run on this website. To enter, please make an account on the website and you will then be able to upload your images.
The unique selling point of this competition is that competitions are always live (24 hours/365 days), magnifying thus your chances of winning exponentially. We run a competition every month and the winner from each month, within each category (a total of 2 from the two categories at present) will qualify for the annual competition. Images submitted up to the end of every month will be considered for that months contest. In the monthly and annual contest – Nature and Travel Genre, the winners will be decided by our Jury Panel.

Categories

The contest has two categories; there will be three winners announced in the monthly contest and five winners announced in the annual contest across each category.
  • Nature – the sub-categories include wildlife, landscape and macro. In nature photography, we are seeking images taken outdoors and devoted to displaying natural elements. From intimate animal portraits to sublime landscapes, innovative techniques to capturing ‘soul satisfying’ moments… go on give wings to your imagination and show us nature as you see it.
  • Travel – the sub-categories include people (not portraits), culture, customs, buildings and monuments. In this category we are seeking images involving the documentation of people, culture, customs and history of a location. We want to see a place as you see it.
  • In addition to the above two categories, we will also run theme based competitions. Look out for them in future.

Building Bharat-Boston Biosciences Programme (B4) Research Fellowships for Indians in USA, 2019

­The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard University (The Mittal Institute) is inviting applications for Building Bharat-Boston Biosciences Programme (B4) starting from January 20, 2019. This scholarship is available for Indian citizens.

8th Cycle HUJI Postdoctoral Fellowship to Students from China and India in Israel, 2019

Applications are invited for Scholarship Program for outstanding postdoctoral fellows from China and India. This is the 8th cycle of the Council for Higher Education in Israel Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC) scholarship programme.

The program goals are to increase the number of outstanding international post-doctoral researchers in Israel and strengthen the research groups in Israeli universities and Enhance academic cooperation and research collaboration with China and India.

6.2 All candidates shall be citizens of China or India, and shall not hold Israeli citizenship. Candidates who have Indian or Chinese citizenships and have completed their doctoral degrees in an institution outside of China or India are also eligible to apply for this fellowship.
6.3 Candidates must hold a doctorate or post-doctorate degree for whom, on the date of publishing this notice (8 August 2018), no more than one year has passed since their last academic position and no more than five years have passed from the date of receiving a doctoral degree.
6.4 Candidates may be submitted who have not yet received their doctoral degree by the date of submission, on condition that they will provide confirmation from the relevant authority where the doctorate is being carried out, authorizing that the candidate will fulfill all of his/her academic obligations and is expected to receive his/her doctoral degree during his/her first year of study in Israel.
