Applications are now open for Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP). Korean government invites 110 international students from 62 countries who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree at higher educational institutions in Korea. The Government of Canada offers Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships for Canadian and international students studying at Canadian universities. The African Peace building Network of the Social Science Research Council is offering residential postdoctoral fellowships for African academics and researchers who work on conflict and peacebuilding and are based in universities in Africa. Fellows are expected to spend two months at a university or research center in Africa located outside the fellow’s home country and a third month at either a university or a policy or practitioner institution in the United States. Selected fellows will produce research-based knowledge that is relevant to and has a significant impact on, peace building policy and practice on the continent. The deadline for application is December 14th 2014.
Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmizi Visiting Research Fellowships
Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is funding research fellowships for the Asian or African citizens. Preference will be given to those studying classical Islamic sciences, although other areas in the humanities and social sciences will be considered. ILRI PhD Fellowship in Climate Change Adaptation Policy, 2015
Applications are invited by ILRI for two available three year PhD fellowships (one in Ethiopia and the other one in Senegal) within the department of Livestock Systems and the Environment. Each fellow will analyze the social dynamics of formulation and implementation of climate adaptation policy in one of these two countries. Applicants need not have completed all university requirements for commencing field research (coursework, oral/comprehensive exams, etc.) at the time of application. However, the student should have advanced to PhD candidacy by the time of starting the fellowship, which should be no later than 1 August 2015. Fieldwork must start by 1 October 2015. Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships
Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission offers excellence scholarships for foreign scholars and artists in Switzerland. The scholarships are available for pursuing PhD, postdoctoral and research programs at one of the public funded universities or recognized institution. The applicant must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application. The scholarship is only valid for a full time Postdoctoral Research or Research in Switzerland. It is not valid for mixed Postdoctoral Research or mixed Research (part time in Switzerland and part time in a third country).
Canadian Government Doctoral Research Scholarships
Each year, the government of Canada offers doctoral research scholarships for international students. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing doctoral studies at Québec University in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering fields. The maximum annual value of the scholarship is $20 000. The scholarship holder may also receive up to nine payments totaling $60 000 during the nine sessions or 36 months. Only students who have been pre selected by a Québec university may apply for these scholarships. Applicants must consult the deadlines of the universities for pre selection. The deadline for submitting complete files directly to the FRQNT is November 1st, 2014.
Chevening Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master students. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree in any subject and at any UK University. Chevening scholarships cover tuition fees, a living allowance at a set rate (for one individual), an economy class return airfare to the UK and additional grants to cover essential expenditure. KJ Bathe SEMC Doctoral Scholarships in South Africa, 2015
Applications are invited for the KJ Bathe SEMC doctoral scholarships available for South African and scholars from other African countries to study at University of Cape Town. Candidates who in 2015 will be registering for the first or second year of a PhD degree at the University of Cape Town are eligible to apply for these awards. The scholarships are each valued at R100,000 per annum and are tenable for one year. The scholarship will not extend beyond 3 years of full-time PhD registration. The application deadline is 30th September 2014.
Graduate School Scholarships for International Students
Stellenbosch University is offering graduate school scholarships for pursuing full-time residential doctoral programme in all academic disciplines available within the Faculty of Economics and Managements Sciences. A candidate has to meet the minimum criteria for admission to a PhD at Stellenbosch University. Application should be submitted till 31st July 2014 for the 2015 uptake of the Graduate School.
Elsevier Awards for Early-Career Women Scientists from Developing Countries, 2015
The Elsevier Foundation, TWAS and OWSD have launched Elsevier awards for women scientists from developing countries. In 2015 year, total five awards will be awarded worth of USD 5,000. The winners will also be invited to attend international events pertaining to OWSD and TWAS. The assessment will be based on achievements in the field, with particular attention paid to the nominees’ publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Deadline for receiving nominations is 17th October 2014.
2014 DAAD Master Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance
DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is funding master scholarships in Public Policy and Good Governance at German institution in Germany. A monthly scholarship rate of currently 750 € will be awarded. Scholarships also provide health insurance, travel allowance as well as a study and research subsidy and in applicable cases accommodation subsidies and/or family allowances. The next application deadline is 31st July 2014.
MMMF Grant for Women of Developing Countries
Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund is offering grant for women of developing countries in South Africa. Applicant must be women and enrolled at the University of Pretoria, the University of Cape Town, the University of Stellenbosch or the University of Witwatersrand. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2014.
Mandela Rhodes Scholarship Programme in South Africa, 2015
The Mandela Rhodes Foundation offers a scholarship programme for providing educational opportunities to young postgraduate students. Scholarship for African students provides full funding for up to a maximum of 2 years of master study. The Scholarship aims to give expression to the legacy of academic excellence, leadership, education, reconciliation and entrepreneurship. Application should be submitted till June 12, 2014 for 2015.
Bertha MBA Scholarships for African Students
The Graduate School of Business at UCT offers five annual Bertha MBA scholarships for African students who have met the requirements for the MBA programme and who are driven by their pursuit in social or green ventures. The scholarship covers full costs of the MBA programme. The deadline for 2015 Bertha Scholarships is 14 November 2014.
Macedonian Government Undergraduate Scholarships
Applications are invited for Macedonian government scholarships available for foreign students to pursue undergraduate studies for the academic 2014/2015 at the University of Information Science and Technology. The scholarships are available to outstanding students, not older than 22 years old. Successful applicants will sign a contract with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia. Application should be submitted till August 1, 2014.
Mauritius-Africa Scholarships for Undergraduate Students
Government of Mauritius is offering Africa scholarships for pursuing undergraduate study at public tertiary education institutions in Mauritius. Up to 50 scholarships will be awarded for a maximum of four (4) years depending on the course duration. Scholarship will cover a monthly living allowance of Rs 8,300, annual tuition fees of up to Rs 100,000 and Airfare (economy class student fare) for the most economical route at the start and end of the studies. Application should be submitted till 30th June 2014.
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Ceramic Engineering
Applications are invited for postdoctoral fellowship in the field in Ceramic Engineering. The candidate should have a PhD in ceramic chemistry, materials science, or physics. However, strong research experience in the realms of ceramic engineering is mandatory. Applicants will receive salary ($24,000 – $30,000), which is quite high considering the cost of living and housing and flights will be covered.
Silk-Road Scholarship Program in Korea
SBS Foundation and Seoul National University are jointly funding Silk Road Scholarship for students wishing to study Humanities and Social Sciences. International applicants who are currently enrolling or who graduated from the eligible universities of the Silk-Road Scholarship Program and Potential graduate/PhD Students who applied for the designated department which participate with the Silk-Road Program for the Fall semester are eligible to apply. Five candidates will be selected for 2014 fall semester. Application should be submitted till March 21, 2014.
Marshal Papworth Scholarships for Ethiopians
The scholarships for Ethiopians are available for pursuing postgraduate and a short course programme. Marshal Papworth scholarship fund one-year postgraduate courses such as MSc or MA. The scholarships are designed to fund the majority of tuition fees, living expenses and travel costs. The application deadline is 24th March 2014.

KFPE’s Learning Events Programme is inviting applications for researchers from developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Applications must show that the proposed learning event is embedded in a research partnership project or programme. The application deadline is 28th February 2014.
