UCT Graduate School of Business is offering offers up to five Bertha full or partial MBA and MPhil scholarships for South African students. Chevening Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master students. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree in any subject and at any UK University. Chevening scholarships cover tuition fees, a living allowance at a set rate (for one individual), an economy class return airfare to the UK and additional grants to cover essential expenditure. Some Scholarships cover part of the cost of studying in the UK; for example, tuition fees only or allowances only. The application deadline is 3 November 2015.
PPS Bursaries for South African Students
PPS Bursary is available to full time university students in an effort to assist students financially to cover tuition and/or text book costs for one academic year. To be eligible for the PPS bursary, the student must be registered at a participating South African University or University of Technology registering for a fourth academic year of study or postgraduate degree and must be studying towards a profession. Carl and Emily Fuchs Doctoral Scholarships
Fuchs Foundation is awarding doctoral scholarships to postgraduate students who have already, or intend to register for Doctoral studies at a local South African university/university of technology. The foundation is providing R100000 per annum for each of the two scholarships. Babette Taute Honours Scholarship in South Africa
Babette Taute Trust invites applications for Honours scholarship from South African students. Students of any branch of English language and literature study, including applied language studies, are eligible for the awards, provided that study directly related to English must constitute at least 50% of the candidate’s full Honours program. Applications are invited for WAAW Foundation 2016 scholarship. Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission offers excellence scholarships for foreign scholars and artists in Switzerland. The scholarships are available for pursuing PhD, postdoctoral and research programs at one of the public funded universities or recognized institution. The applicant must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application. The Scholarship is only valid for a full time Postdoctoral Research or Research in Switzerland. It is not valid for mixed Postdoctoral Research or mixed Research (part time in Switzerland and part time in a third country).

South African Research Ethics Training Initiative (SARETI) is offering up to four masters scholarships for African students. The SARETI Masters programme is a Masters of Social Science degree (MSocSc: Health Research Ethics) through the School of Psychology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in East Asian (Chinese) and African Studies
Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) is awarding a postdoctoral research fellowship in East Asian (Chinese) and African Studies. This fellowship is open for citizens of all nationalities but South African nationals are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a doctoral degree, obtained in the past five years, in a discipline relevant to CCS research themes, preferably with a focus on East Asia (specifically China) and Africa. 2015 Innovative International Scholarships
Curtin University offers merit based international scholarships to study a Curtin bachelor or master by coursework degree in Semester 1 or 2, 2014. These merit scholarships are available the students of Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, India, Kenya, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Zambia or Zimbabwe. Applications are invited for UK and International Scholarships for the academic year 2015-2016. Scholarships are awarded to undertake the joint University of Edinburgh/RCPE MSc in Internal Medicine. Government of Mauritius is offering Africa scholarships for pursuing undergraduate study at public tertiary education institutions in Mauritius. Up to 50 scholarships will be awarded for a maximum of four (4) years depending on the course duration. Applications are invited for Vodacom Bursary Scheme- 2016. Applicants must be a South African citizen and undertake full-time undergraduate studies in a South African tertiary institution. Up to fifty bursaries will be awarded annually in fields in which there are skills shortages. Edinburgh Business School MBA Distance Learning Scholarship
Applications are invited for Edinburgh Business School MBA Scholarship available for the students of sub-Saharan African country. This scholarship covers the cost of all tuition, learning materials and examination fees. Learning materials are available to access online and a hard copy is also sent to scholars by post. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships
The New Zealand Government offers commonwealth scholarship for the students of participating developing commonwealth countries. The scholarship is offered for master and PhD studies at New Zealand universities. Netherlands Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries’ Students,
Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation is offering Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) for developing country applicants. NFP will be awarded for master degree programmes, PhD and short courses. Students must be a national of one of the countries in the NFP country list valid at the time of application.
RNTC Fellowships for South Africans
RNTC’s Fellowships are available for professional journalists, programme-makers, broadcast trainers and managers. The fellowships will be awarded on academic and professional merit. These fellowships cover the course fee (up to 50%), not the costs for travel and accommodation. The application deadlines vary from subject to subject.
Law School Postgraduate Taught Scholarships
Applications are invited for postgraduate taught scholarships within the School of Law at University of Warwick. Total 18 scholarships will be awarded to study all taught LLM programmes. Following types of scholarships will be available: General Scholarship (international students), Upendra Baxi Scholarship (South Asian countries), Latin American Scholarship (Latin America), African Scholarship (Africa), Women of Pakistan Scholarship (Pakistan) and Warwick Law School Graduate Scholarship (students who have graduated from their undergraduate degree at Warwick School of Law within the last three years). Applications should be submitted till 31st March 2015.
Global Challenges Fellowship Program (GCFP)
The Volkswagen Foundation is supporting Global Challenges Fellowship to conduct research for journal articles and/or policy papers and participate in a series of small working group discussions and seminars. Beginning in September 2015, Global Challenges Fellows will spend approximately 7-8 months doing analytical, policy, and empirical work at SPP/CEU IAS in Budapest and at GPPi in Berlin where they will engage with policy practitioners. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Student Scholarships & IMRD for International Students
Applications are invited for Erasmus Mundus scholarships to joint master degree programme in Rural Development. The programme is jointly organised by six European leading institutes in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development in collaboration with several partners in the United States, China, Ecuador, India and South Africa. French Embassy Scholarship Programmes, 2015-2016
Applications are invited for French Embassy Scholarships available for South African and Lesotho students to undertake a Master’s degree at a French university for the academic year 2015-2016. Embassy offers two Master’s scholarship programmes, with the same benefits: one in humanities (SAFeThink scholarship programme) and the second in all other fields of study (Master scholarship programme). The Embassy allocates around 20 scholarships per year for the duration of one French academic year, renewable once. Scholarship includes the tuition fees, the Schengen visa fees, a monthly stipend towards living expenses, health insurance and the flight tickets. The application deadline is 23 March, 2015.
International Space University MSc Scholarship for South Africans
Scholarship for South Africans is offered for pursuing master’s degree at International Space University. This aid is available to selected applicants and covers a portion of their fees. Scholarship for South Africans is granted on the basis of academic and professional merit, financial need and demonstrated financial need. The deadline for applications is 15th March 2015.
International Climate Protection Fellowships for South Africans
Federal Environment Ministry’s (BMU) International Climate Initiative is inviting applications for Fellowships for Developing Countries. Up to 20 International Climate Protection Fellowships are granted annually. Fellowships are open for young climate experts from developing countries interested in conducting a project in Germany and developing long-term collaborations. The completed application form including all the necessary additional documentation must be submitted by the closing date for applications (15 March 2015).
Ruth First Master Scholarship for South Africans
Ruth First Educational Trust is offering scholarship for southern African students for the academic year 2015-2016. Scholarship support student taking a one-year taught course leading to the award of a Master’s degree at Durham University. Scholarship covers the full fees for the programme chosen and the Scholar will receive a monthly allowance to cover living and other expenses for 12 months, as well as free accommodation and meals at St Chad’s College .The application deadline is 1st March 2015.
Allan GrayOrbis Foundation Fellowship
Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is offering fellowship for the students of Southern Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland. The fellowship is only available to Grade 12 and first year university students. The Fellowship includes comprehensive tertiary education financial support alongside exposure to thought leaders, mentorship and entrepreneurial mindset development. Access to postgraduate funding is available to those who have excelled in their tertiary studies and the Fellowship Programme.
EUSA ID Scholarships in Development Studies, 2015
Applications are invited for the 2nd call of Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Project EUSA ID scholarships in Development Studies. EUSA_ID is a mobility programme offering study, training and research periods in Europe for South African Master and PhD candidates and staff and provides European PhD candidates the opportunity to spend a research period in South Africa. A total of 18 grants will be awarded to support European mobility to a South African partner university. The application deadline is 28 February 2015 (31 January 2015 for the non-degree seeking mobility at Ruhr-University Bochum).
SWOP Postdoctoral Fellowships for South Africans
University of the Witwatersrand is offering up to 5 postdoctoral fellowships in Social Justice for 2015 academic year. Students from all continents are eligible to apply for these fellowships. The Fellowships will start on 1 May 2015 and cover a period of two years. Fellows will receive funding of R220 000 per year plus medical insurance, and in addition substantial research funding. The application deadline is 30 February 2015.
IJP Southern African Journalists’ Bursary Programme , 2015
Applications are invited for Journalism Bursary programme for 2015 academic year. Up to six bursary are open to young southern African (SADC-member states: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe + Kenia) and up to five young German journalists. The bursary is intended to enable young journalists to gain valuable insights into the political, economical, cultural as well as the social fabric of the host country. ICDD PhD Scholarships for Developing Countries, 2015
The International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) offers PhD Positions. Positions are open for citizenship of an ODA recipient country. The position is available to apply for a PhD scholarship in a particular academic field at an ICDD partner university. Scholarship will cover a country-specific monthly allowance, tuition fees, the participation in ICDD graduate school activities as well as the opportunity to apply for field research funding. CUT Competitive Postgraduate Research Scholarships/Grants, 2015
The Faculty of Management Sciences at CUT is offering postgraduate research scholarships to full-time post-graduate students on a competitive merit basis. The grants will be awarded for a maximum period of two (2) years for full-time Master’s and three (3) years for full-time Doctorate students; subject to the fulfillment of satisfactory progress in their research work. National Youth Development Agency invites applications for Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship available for South African students. Scholarships are awarded for high school learners who plan to attend one of the participating universities as a 1st year full time student after completing the National Senior Certificate. Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships for South African Students is offered to pursue full-time graduate degree level at University of Oxford. There are 2 scholarships are offered to students. Full Scholarships for Kennedy-Lugar YES Abroad Program
U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs are offering applications for Kennedy-Lugar YES Study Abroad Program. Scholarships are awarded for high school students and recent graduates to study for one academic year abroad. YES Abroad students serve as “youth ambassadors” of the United States, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationships with their host families and communities. The program offers 65 full scholarships to American students nationwide. Full scholarships are awarded to study for one academic year. Students should submit their application by January 7, 2015.
GreenMatter Fellowship Awards for South African Students, 2015
Applications are invited for GreenMatter Fellowship available for South African students for masters and doctoral study commencing in 2015. Cash awards of R40 000 per year for study at Masters level and R 90 000 per year for study at PhD level. Canadian Government Doctoral Research Scholarships
Each year, the government of Canada offers doctoral research scholarships for international students. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing doctoral studies at Québec University in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering fields. The maximum annual value of the scholarship is $20 000. The scholarship holder may also receive up to nine payments totaling $60 000 during the nine sessions or 36 months. Only students who have been pre selected by a Québec university may apply for these scholarships. Applicants must consult the deadlines of the universities for pre selection.
Marshal Papworth Scholarships for South Africans
Marshal Papworth Trust is offering scholarships for South Africans. The scholarships are available for pursuing postgraduate and a short course programmes. These scholarships are designed to fund the majority of tuition fees, living expenses and travel costs. Scholarships for South Africans will be offered for one year.
DAAD-NRF In-Country Scholarship Programme
DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is offering In-Country scholarship programme for South African students to study postgraduate studies (master and doctoral degree) at South African universities. The scholarship-holder may also apply for a short-term research fellowship (duration 2-6 months) in Germany. Up to 100 scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral studies and 10 to 15 short-term research fellowships in 2015 will be awarded.
Mexican Government Scholarship Program
Applications are invited for Mexican Government scholarship program available for foreign students. Scholarships for academic studies are offered for those who preferred to take complete programs for Specialization, Master’s or PhD Degrees and Postgraduate Researches. Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) invites applications for college scholarships available for international students to study at a Japanese college of technology. A graduated grantee will be awarded a diploma and an associate degree. Scholarship awards will be tenable for four years from April, 2015 to March, 2019 including one-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects due to be provided upon arrival in Japan.
