Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships
Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission offers excellence scholarships for foreign scholars and artists in Switzerland. The scholarships are available for pursuing PhD, postdoctoral and research programs at one of the public funded universities or recognized institution. The applicant must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application. The Scholarship is only valid for a full time Postdoctoral Research or Research in Switzerland. It is not valid for mixed Postdoctoral Research or mixed Research (part time in Switzerland and part time in a third country).
Canadian Government Doctoral Research Scholarships
Each year, the government of Canada offers doctoral research scholarships for international students. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing doctoral studies at Québec University in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering fields. The maximum annual value of the scholarship is $20 000. The scholarship holder may also receive up to nine payments totaling $60 000 during the nine sessions or 36 months. Only students who have been pre selected by a Québec university may apply for these scholarships. Applicants must consult the deadlines of the universities for pre selection. The deadline for submitting complete files directly to the FRQNT is November 1st, 2014.
Chevening Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master students. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree in any subject and at any UK University. Chevening scholarships cover tuition fees, a living allowance at a set rate (for one individual), an economy class return airfare to the UK and additional grants to cover essential expenditure. Some Scholarships cover part of the cost of studying in the UK; for example, tuition fees only or allowances only. The application deadline is 15th November 2014.
Netherlands Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries’ Students,
Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation is offering Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) for developing country applicants. NFP will be awarded for master degree programmes, PhD and short courses. Students must be a national of one of the countries in the NFP country list valid at the time of application.
WAAW Foundation Scholarship for Undergraduate African Women, 2015
Applications are invited for WAAW Foundation 2015 scholarship. Scholarships are available for African women to study as full time students in a STEM related course at a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa. GreenMatter Fellowship Awards for South African Students, 2015
Applications are invited for GreenMatter Fellowship available for South African students for masters and doctoral study commencing in 2015. Cash awards of R40 000 per year for study at Masters level and R 90 000 per year for study at PhD level. Law School Postgraduate Taught Scholarships
Applications are invited for postgraduate taught scholarships within the School of Law at University of Warwick. Total 18 scholarships will be awarded to study all taught LLM programmes. Graduate School Scholarships for International Students
Stellenbosch University is offering graduate school scholarships for pursuing full-time residential doctoral programme in all academic disciplines available within the Faculty of Economics and Managements Sciences. Applications are invited for the KJ Bathe SEMC doctoral scholarships available for South African and scholars from other African countries to study at University of Cape Town. Candidates who in 2015 will be registering for the first or second year of a PhD degree at the University of Cape Town are eligible to apply for these awards. Applications are invited for Southern African Young Scientists Summer Program (SA-YSSP) available to talented young researchers to work with scientists from South Africa and IIASA. This program is open to the applicants from South Africa, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) or IIASA member countries to conduct research at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Canon Collins Trust invites applications for scholarships to pursue postgraduate study in South Africa in 2015. The students of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe can apply for these scholarships. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships
The New Zealand Government offers commonwealth scholarship for the students of participating developing commonwealth countries. The scholarship is offered for master and PhD studies at New Zealand universities. DAAD-NRF In-Country Scholarship Programme
DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is offering In-Country scholarship programme for South African students to study postgraduate studies (master and doctoral degree) at South African universities. The scholarship-holder may also apply for a short-term research fellowship (duration 2-6 months) in Germany. Up to 100 scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral studies and 10 to 15 short-term research fellowships in 2015 will be awarded. The application deadline is 15 August 2014 for funding for 2015.
UNESCO/POLAND Co-Sponsored Fellowships
Applications are invited for UNESCO/POLAND Co-Sponsored Research Fellowships. Up to forty (40) fellowships will be awarded for a period of six (6) months duration starting on 1st October 2014. To be eligible for these fellowships, applicants must hold Bachelor’s or M.Sc. degrees and must not be more than 45 years of age. Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) invites applications for college scholarships available for international students to study at a Japanese college of technology. A graduated grantee will be awarded a diploma and an associate degree. Scholarship awards will be tenable for four years from April, 2015 to March, 2019 including one-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects due to be provided upon arrival in Japan.

ACU Commonwealth Scholarship for Master Students in Pakistan, 2014
The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is awarding a Commonwealth scholarship for pursuing master degree at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. Applicants must be citizens of any Commonwealth country except Pakistan and hold a degree (earned after 16 years of education) in the relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education, with CGPA of 2.5/4.0 under semester system, or not less than 60% marks under annual system. ATLAS PhD Grants in Particle Physics Research
CERN is offering 2-3 PhD grants for graduate students preparing a doctoral thesis in particle physics (incl. computing for physics) to spend one year at CERN followed by one year support also at the home Institute. Abraaj RCA Innovation Scholarship for Masters Students
Royal College of Art in London is inviting applications for master scholarship to support outstanding recipients who lack the financial resources to pay for their own studies. Once a student from one of the 23 eligible countries has received a conditional offer, they will be invited to apply for the Abraaj RCA Innovation Scholarship. King’s College London is offering Emerald MSc studentship for students of Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Nepal, India and Ethiopia. UK Medical Research Council (MRC) is offering training fellowship to undertake two years MSc training in Medical Statistics. French government in partnership with South African think tanks is offering full bursaries for South African or Lesotho students. Kevin Rochford Memorial Scholarship for South African Students
University of Cape Town offers Memorial scholarship for South African students. Scholarship is awarded for the 1st year of the B.Ed (Honours) degree, the 1st or 2nd year of the Master’s degree or the 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of the PhD degree in Science Education (or Mathematics). There is no restriction on race or gender. The value of this Memorial scholarship is R 25,000. The application deadline is 15 February 2014.
ACIAR and AusAID are funding fellowships in agriculture for applicants from developing countries to study at Institutes in Australia. Candidates must be jointly supported in the application by the Australian and partner country Project Leaders. 27 fellowships will be offered. There is one call for nominations per year. Candidates must submit their applications by 31 July of the year prior to the study taking place.
Intermediate Fellowships for South Africans
