Applications are invited for Journalism Bursary programme for 2015 academic year. EUSA ID Scholarships in Development Studies, 2015
Applications are invited for the 2nd call of Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Project EUSA ID scholarships in Development Studies. EUSA_ID is a mobility programme offering study, training and research periods in Europe for South African Master and PhD candidates and staff and provides European PhD candidates the opportunity to spend a research period in South Africa. The EUSA_ID partnership will award 66 grants in total to support South African mobility to a European partner university at Master, PhD and staff level. A total of 18 grants will be awarded to support European mobility to a South African partner university. The application deadline is 28 February 2015 (31 January 2015 for the non-degree seeking mobility at Ruhr-University Bochum).
French Embassy Scholarship Programmes, 2015-2016
Applications are invited for French Embassy Scholarships available for South African and Lesotho students to undertake a Master’s degree at a French university for the academic year 2015-2016. Embassy offers two Master’s scholarship programmes, with the same benefits: one in humanities (SAFeThink scholarship programme) and the second in all other fields of study (Master scholarship programme). The Embassy allocates around 20 scholarships per year for the duration of one French academic year, renewable once. Scholarship includes the tuition fees, the Schengen visa fees, a monthly stipend towards living expenses, health insurance and the flight tickets. The application deadline is 23 March, 2015.
CUT Competitive Postgraduate Research Scholarships/Grants, 2015
The Faculty of Management Sciences at CUT is offering postgraduate research scholarships to full-time post-graduate students on a competitive merit basis. Wellcome Trust International Engagement Awards for South Africans
Wellcome Trust is offering awards for research applicants for 2014 intake. The scholarships will provide up to £30,000 for three years. U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs are offering applications for Kennedy-Lugar YES Study Abroad Program. Scholarships are awarded for high school students and recent graduates to study for one academic year abroad. YES Abroad students serve as “youth ambassadors” of the United States, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationships with their host families and communities. International Climate Protection Fellowships for South Africans
Federal Environment Ministry’s (BMU) International Climate Initiative is inviting applications for Fellowships for Developing Countries. Up to 20 International Climate Protection Fellowships are granted annually. 2015 Innovative International Scholarships
Curtin University offers merit based international scholarships to study a Curtin bachelor or master by coursework degree in Semester 1 or 2, 2014. These merit scholarships are available the students of Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, India, Kenya, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Zambia or Zimbabwe. The fellowships for South Africans are available for pursuing research programme. The fellowships are awarded for up to five years. It provides a basic salary which will be based on the pay scales of the employing institution or allowances and cover research expenses, training costs. Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships
Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission offers excellence scholarships for foreign scholars and artists in Switzerland. The scholarships are available for pursuing PhD, postdoctoral and research programs at one of the public funded universities or recognized institution. The applicant must not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application. The Scholarship is only valid for a full time Postdoctoral Research or Research in Switzerland. It is not valid for mixed Postdoctoral Research or mixed Research (part time in Switzerland and part time in a third country).
WAAW Foundation Scholarship for Undergraduate African Women, 2015
Applications are invited for WAAW Foundation 2015 scholarship. Scholarships are available for African women to study as full time students in a STEM related course at a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa. Scholarship recipients will receive an award of $500 for the 2015 academic year or the equivalent in their country’s local currency. GreenMatter Fellowship Awards for South African Students, 2015
Applications are invited for GreenMatter Fellowship available for South African students for masters and doctoral study commencing in 2015. Cash awards of R40 000 per year for study at Masters level and R 90 000 per year for study at PhD level. Financial support is complemented by networking, mentoring and structured professional development opportunities. All eligible applicants will be also considered for these named awards: The Mapula Award, Crossley-UCT Award and Crossley-Stellenbosch Award.
Canadian Government Doctoral Research Scholarships
Each year, the government of Canada offers doctoral research scholarships for international students. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing doctoral studies at Québec University in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering fields. The maximum annual value of the scholarship is $20 000. The scholarship holder may also receive up to nine payments totaling $60 000 during the nine sessions or 36 months. Only students who have been pre selected by a Québec university may apply for these scholarships. Applicants must consult the deadlines of the universities for pre selection.
Chevening Scholarships for Postgraduate Students
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master students. The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree in any subject and at any UK University. Chevening scholarships cover tuition fees, a living allowance at a set rate (for one individual), an economy class return airfare to the UK and additional grants to cover essential expenditure. Some Scholarships cover part of the cost of studying in the UK; for example, tuition fees only or allowances only.
Netherlands Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries’ Students,
Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation is offering Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) for developing country applicants. NFP will be awarded for master degree programmes, PhD and short courses. Students must be a national of one of the countries in the NFP country list valid at the time of application.
Marshal Papworth Scholarships for South Africans
Marshal Papworth Trust is offering scholarships for South Africans. The scholarships are available for pursuing postgraduate and a short course programmes. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships
The New Zealand Government offers commonwealth scholarship for the students of participating developing commonwealth countries. DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is offering In-Country scholarship programme for South African students to study postgraduate studies (master and doctoral degree) at South African universities. The scholarship-holder may also apply for a short-term research fellowship (duration 2-6 months) in Germany. Up to 100 scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral studies and 10 to 15 short-term research fellowships in 2015 will be awarded.
UNESCO/POLAND Co-Sponsored Fellowships
Applications are invited for UNESCO/POLAND Co-Sponsored Research Fellowships. Up to forty (40) fellowships will be awarded for a period of six (6) months duration starting on 1st October 2014. To be eligible for these fellowships, applicants must hold Bachelor’s or M.Sc. degrees and must not be more than 45 years of age. Beneficiaries of these fellowships will be given the opportunity to undertake an individual research programme in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering.
